Hi, I am going to be resetting a k color antique cushion that is currently a solitaire. It is going to be a three stone ring. The side stones are K as well. It is currently in rose gold. I like that and it makes the K look kind of steel-y, if that makes sense and compliments the pastel flashes.

However, the price difference between platinum and rose gold is not going to be tremendous. If you had a choice with a K color antique stone, would you go with rose gold or platinum? Thanks in advance!

TOTALLY depends on the setting for me.

I think the combo of a diamond and metal color is totally dependent on an individual’s perception of the specific diamond and metal combo (perhaps after G/H, and especially as you get to lower colors which show more tint). eg body color affects a lot, some people like steely, etc. if you like it in rose gold I’d keep it there, or use some aluminum foil or dimes to see if you like it in white metal.

Depends on your preference and coloring. For me I would choose platinum over rose gold every single time. I prefer the look of whiter metals against my skin. I also think rose gold is more allergenic for sensitive individuals depending on the alloys used so would tend to be leery of it for me for that reason as well.

So the main question for you is do you prefer wearing white metals or do you love the look of rose gold (and which 14k or 18K as they are different in appearance) against your skin?

And then the other question is which metal do you prefer your K stone in but that I feel is secondary to which metal you prefer wearing and you can always do platinum prongs if you choose rose gold for the setting.

Thanks. I think I'm going to go with platinum. The rose kind of blends into my skin tone and I like the heavier feeling of platinum. I sent my stones off today, so that's progress!
