Have done a lot of reading but must confess that I am still confused and a little lost with all the choices/permutations.

Have a budget of $10k-$12k total and are looking for a classic solitaire round cut in platinum. >1.5 carat. Ring size 5.5 or slightly larger.

Thought I had it tied down but would like some suggestions please. Even a thread link with similar parameters.

Much appreciated

First, are you sure a classic round solitaire is what the wearer wants? You have confirmation of this? Or you shooting from the hip?

Second, okay... off to look.

Puts you 1000 over budget but hits all your asks and gives you a nice H color at 1.5 carats:

This one is just shy of 1.5 carats but will bring you in at just a couple hundred over budget with a platinum setting:

Appreciate it.

She likes the classic Tiffany solitaire round cut type, said she would prefer a bigger size over some of the other parameters. The 6 prong solitaire setting is what she wants.

What sort of size can you get to for $12k for diamond only with acceptable cut quality?

This is helping a lot.

The first stone I posted for you is 12k.
