Remove diamond before resizing?

Hey Guys, I looked for an answer to this in previous threads...couldn't find one, so sorry if this is a repeat question!

I may need to resize my platinum solitaire setting ( no side stones, obv). Does the diamond need to be removed? I've heard platinum requires such a high heat and the diamond can get "burned/scorched".

I don't think that's been the case with the rings I've had re-sized, but it's also never occurred to me to ask!

Look for a jeweller who will use a laser welder. Better joint and no heat issues.
