Has anyone bought a meh-cut diamond and had it recut? Is it worth it?

Alternatively has anyone bought a rough diamond and had it cut?

What is a meh-cut diamond?

Meh-cut: Worth it only if you have a good return policy and can send for cutter evaluation (to BGD preferrably for me) within that period. SO that if it is not a good candidate for a recut you can return it.

It depends how * meh* it is and the weight and shape, clarity etc, do you have any images or more info on the proportions of the stone please?

I do recut consultations for people fairly often and I have to say, with new purchases, it’s almost never worth the trouble. When recutting makes sense tends to be if the stone is damaged and needs repair, if you’re trying to improve the saleability or resale price (this USUALLY doesn't work either but sometimes it does), or if you already own it and think you would like it better if it were restyled. If the objective is to buy a superbly cut diamond, it makes more sense to start out shopping for superbly cut diamonds and pick the one that fits your needs rather than try and buy one and ‘fix’ it.

I had a horribly cut 1ct diamond and had Brian Gavin recut it. The result was amazing!

However, I'm not sure I'd buy a diamond with the intent on recutting it.
