Hello,

For those that have been following along, I had Brian Gavin recut my original engagement ring diamond and set into a six prong pendant. (I also purchased a three stone ring as an anniversary upgrade - which I will post pictures of soon!) I received word that it shipped today and I am so excited to see it in person tomorrow! Until then, below are the pictures they have sent me! Yay!!

I love it! What a beautiful pendant!

So tempted to do this, how pretty!!!

Simply beautiful! Congrats on such a gorgeous recut! Can't wait for neck shots!

wow quite a change with little loss imho. can't wait to see the pendant on your!

What a makeover!!!

Is the analysis they initially do for free?

Is the price per carat before recutting?

Is it still around $375?

Did you check with other vendors for pricing?

I'm itching to recut a stone of mine... ughhh...

Another amazing recut! And you didn’t lose much diameter!

So pretty. Aren't you glad you did it?
My experience is you mail them the diamond. I had to look all over town for paper tape. The post office didn't have any. They evaluate the stone for free. If it is a candidate they let you know. If not you have to pay the return shipping.

Beautiful! congrats!. Well done by BGD!..:clap:

Impressive! Looking forward to seeing your photos, too.

Great result! Congratulations!!

Thank you all for the sweet comments! I'll be sure to post a neck shot once it arrives! Also, I too was very pleased in such little loss in diameter!

The process was quite simple. I emailed a copy of my original AGS cert and Brian said it was a good candidate for a recut. BGD sent very specific instructions for mailing (USPS, certified, insured, etc). My local post office helped me make sure I did everything correctly. Once it arrived it was given a proper evaluation. That is when I knew it would go from a 3 to a 0. The recut took some time to complete (although I was also working on my three stone project so I didn't mind!). The cost was around $350 a carat, so since it started out as a 1.302 it came to around $455 (plus the cost of the pendant).

A recut is something I've thought about doing for quite some time. This stone was purchased before I knew anything about pricescope, yet it held sentimental value since I've worn it for 10+ years. Once I learned more about diamonds (and the importance of cut!), I knew my stone was deep and lacked in light return. However, I just couldn't see trading it in for something else (and I'm thankful for a hubby that was ok with this too!). I didn't shop around as I knew I wanted Brian to do the recut. I've worked with them in the past on other projects (a Dream band and a Barbara pendant) and have always enjoyed their work and customer service. I say if you've been debating, go for it!
