I have an older pair of studs that I’m going to send to Brian Gavin tomorrow for a recut evaluation and hopefully a recut. They do sparkle a lot but not like my newer studs that are well cut. I’ve decided to send them in and get them done! My question is..because they are SI2’s..is it possible that they can go from eye clean to being able to see the inclusions because of the recut..I’ve never had a diamond recut..and not sure how much is taken off..My worry is that it will bring the inclusions closer to the surface..

I am not a professional ,but I guess it depends on the current proportions of your diamond !

Thanks @Golden_bird..They’re uncertified so I have no idea about the cut..I guess I’ll find out! :eek2:

ask Brian

Where are the inclusions? If on the periphery maybe but in the middle of the stone you won't be able to cut them away.

I know they’re under the table in at least one of them..but they’re eye clean now. I guess I’ll have to see what he says after looking at them. If after cutting them they sparkle more but I can see the inclusions when I couldn’t see them before I’ll just keep them the way they are. I doubt he would need to cut off any portion of the center table..but really what do I know..nothing..

No one can give you an answer without looking at them.
Brian is the best person to do so.

Ok..That problem is solved! My daughter-in-law wants them...She has moissanite ones so these will be her first pair of diamond studs. They are the smaller ones next to my current studs. The right one looks gray but it just photographed that way...Thanks anyway! :lol-2: I just realized I didn’t add the photos!

Looks like they have small tables so they shouldn’t be badly cut ! I would keep them as is !

Thank you @Golden_bird! I’m going to keep them for my daughter-in-law because she likes them the way they are....I know she wants them so will pick the right time to give them to her.
