Recommended loupe for AGS certificate number?

Karat number on a gold band is visible with the naked eye. AGS number on the diamond often requires a microscope.

Maybe it's because I wear eyeglasses (with Varilux lenses, strong prescription), but I can't clearly see a GIA/AGS number inscribed on a diamond with a loupe, even a 30x one; I need to view the stone under a jeweler's microscope with greater power, zoom lens 8)

I can see the AGS number with a 10x loupe on a 0.5ct stone's girdle. I found it easier to see than GIA number on a bigger (1.45ct) diamond.

This isn't the world's best microscope, but it is a fun little thing to get if you see it drop in price. I've used it to inspect solder joints and some other less micro-things, but it'll zoom in close enough to read an AGS inscription.

Sometimes it goes to $25 shipped.

Here's an example of what it can capture. Not the world's best clarity, and focusing the lens gets pretty tough.

I was able to see AGS logos on my .33ct Whiteflash ACAs (I've since traded them up) with the 30x setting. It was smalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, but I could see it.
