Question regarding OEC L colour with halo??? or without???

I end up getting the 1.53 OEC diamond. i only have quick shots of my stone. Ill post some more soon (I'm thinking in repolishing too)
anyway. I like halo settings I just don't want to see too much of colour difference between diamonds. I like the colour and i want to embrace it. I also love solitaries. Im a nurse so my ringers are out at work at all the times. I love pave. as well so can you guys give me your input regarding halo settings?? double halo?? or single halo?? I love pink so I was thinking too adding some pink diamonds??. I don't know how big its going to look my finger size is 4.5. I want something sparkly and dainty. ty for your help.

Do you want to emphasize the warmth of your L colored OEC? If not you will need to choose lower colored melee for the halo and perhaps even set it in yellow gold. Do you want more finger coverage? My personal preference would be only a single halo to give it a more dainty appearance.
I wouldn't wear it to work as a nurse. You have a physically demanding job and are often wearing latex gloves, lifting patients...Pave can be delicate and you may loose a melee and there is nothing worse than staring at a black hole. If you must wear it to work I'd suggest doing a bezel setting instead to protect your stone better.

If you want pave with double halo, then it might not be advisable to wear it to work where you use your hands often. if you really want to wear it to work, how about a single halo with plain shank and set as low as possible to facilitate glove wearing?

It's a tricky one! I tend to think that OECs and old cuts face up whiter than modern stones of the same colour so you can get away with a little more. I have a 4ct GIA L OEC that is set in a halo. I honestly can't see the colour difference most of the time and the melee in the halo is F/G (albeit they are teeny stones). It's easy to see the tint in my OEC from the side, however. And for me, I like the colour of my OEC in the halo. It's a more vintage look.

I think misskittycat's post was accurate and helpful. I have a 5ct L VS1 round brilliant that isn't in a halo (I wanted a halo but my husband didn't), but it has pave in the band and gallery. The color difference does bother me, and I am working on a reset into a ring without any other diamonds.

+1 here! I have EGL L colour OEC and I'm same level with misskittycat. My halo has G/H diamonds. I couldn't be happier with it. Here is couple of shots.

My opinion is, choose what You want. You don't have to regret later and at same time You save a nice amount a cash. I know what I'm talking; my third setting in a one year

Oh miss kitty you have been a lot of help, I really love how you halo looks, how the colour shows. I probably will ask to get maybe G-I melee diamonds?? or maybe pink diamonds for the halo. I've been reading a lot of how white brings white and other colour bring more the colour of your stone. so i don't know if rose gold with go with the L colour or my OEC. .

We are not allow to wear rings at work. Its not safe for Us and our patients. and I wash my hands maybe 50 times lol or more at work. so Ill be wearing it in all my days offs as my daily ring.

Thats what I'm afraid that when i see my diamonds with very white diamonds instead of bring the beauty of it it will look too different

Your ring looks beautiful, I can't see a difference between the diamonds on the setting with your center diamonds its gorgeous!!!!

I think if you use very small H/I diamonds in a single halo, you will be fine. The stone in the halo are gonna look brighter than the center diamond anyway, even if they were L in color as well. I think it'll look fav in a dainty halo, but I'm biased.

No worries. It really comes down to personal preference. If you want less of a contrast, lower coloured melee would be better, but it is harder to get.

As to the rose gold - each stone is different. You won't know until you hold it up against some rose gold whether or not it might pick up the colour.
