how about this lady. Ask for more photos particularly in natural lighting but this is the best ive seen so far

As for settings would you use second hand? Platinum with diamonds can get pricey for 2k

Thanks for the help, that is a beautiful stone. i sent in a request for the natural lighting and also up close pictures. Is there anyway to know for sure the cert that comes with it is for that stone?
In my opinion the only option in your budget would be those trillions. And of the trillions I like this

4mm in my opinion is too small for a main stone engagement ring.

Even the trillion would probably need a halo to bulk it up

Verify that the stone is indeed a natural sapphire and make sure the dimension matches. It's uncommon for coloured stones to have the same L x W x D.

I cannot find those when I search their site myself? What should I look under?

You can't find the stones I linked or any gemstones on other site?

Nevermind, I found them.

Looked on GemsNY.com as well, they seem to have a nice selection of untreated sapphire. All come with GIA certs as well.

Is the pearlmans place a known and trusted vendor? The price for their stones seem to good to be true.

They are reputable. I have friends who have gotten their rings/settings through there and the gemstones they have are sold through a wholesaler many vendors use.

You might be even able to ask them for a "pricescope " discount on a setting, that can help you get a platinum ring in budget

i do not know anyone who has purchased from them so cannot say one way or the other on their quality/ photo quality. i would encourage you to review the colors on the GIA certs, they are a lighter blue than trade idea, but that doesnt make them bad

Good catch, i didnt even bother to scroll down and look. You are right, much lighter than what they pictured online.

Also, the 1.20 looks rather silky. This might not be a "sparkly" stone", which is cool if that is what you like, but if not, it might be something to consider.

I'd really like a round stone. I think I want to go with a bezel set halo style ring. Really like the way they look with a round stone.

Well that's good that'll help with your budget. Would you take one with diamond just in the halo not the band?

The thing to worry about about bezels is that they can make the stone look a tad darker. Meaning, it won't look the same loos as it does once set.

I'd prefer diamonds not in the band. Hard to find though surprisingly. Looks a lot nicer and cleaner that way to me.

The more I look in don't think a bezel setting is a necessity, I have found some regular halos I like without them as well.

Any word from pearlmans? I feel like that cushion could be nice and they have brands I think you could get within your budget.

I like it I worry how dark will it be in real life bask a few more questions. Does it get black? How does it look in low lighting.

Those photos I like, though.

+1. Both pics look like they were taken in bright light and the stone looks to have good color. I would be afraid though that in dimmer light it might end up looking so dark as to not have much color or sparkle.

This is the low light pic.

What do you guys think?

Also just wanted to say how good pearlmans customer service has been. Whether I get the stone or not they have been very helpful.

I think it will get even darker when you bezel set it. And as such, while it is a lovely colour, if you dont like the darkness then I don't think it will be exactly the right stone for you.

Doesnt HAVE to be bezel set. I would be fine not doing it with this stone if it would look better otherwise. Do you think it would work fine otherwise?

I'm worried that last photo still seems very dark
