Question for leonid, vendors, experts and anyone who wants to answer :} procedure question

Agreed. I don't care either way about the "lovefests" as they happen ALL OVER, and the same people who complain about them have participated in said lovefests and non-diamond talk. We all do, move on.

Remember we are all humans, and have feelings and needs, emotions, and flaws. From me, to Rhino to Leonid.

Let's not take away the human element please, because once you do, you are staring at a computer screen filled with facts, so you might as well take online GIA courses and be done with it!

I'm with the Cap't on this one! Let it GO.

If I am in your assestment that I participate in the "lovefests", you are correct. I do. What one does in a vendor thread vs. what one does in a non-diamond thread or a sincere new fiance thread is an entirely different matter.

If you so wanted to let it go, why did you have to give your opinion *then* tell everyone to quit.

I respectfully disagree I think its good that its getting talked about and resolved.
Like my orginal question its not going away and its better to get it settled than have it drag on.

Internet forums do not live in a vacuum or stay static they evolve and grow and sometimes things need a little tweaking to keep things on track.

I would like to see leonid's responce to all this because he is the one ultimatly responsible for the rules and im sure he will weigh in when he gets the time.

Because chastizing anyone (when you are not the webmaster of the page) is pointless. Especially when most of us are so ready to write non-diamond issues in Rocky Talk.

When someone is in an accident or when someone brings up an intense personal issues or even the frequent "should I get an upgrade or not" or "does size matter", "which size is gaudy" kind of issues crop up, we all write responses, don't we?

THOSE posts are not in line with diamonds as an educational tool to learn their critical angles and measurements, or comparable prices, or the diamond trade. However they come up and become interesting because there is a human element, and we are all humans.

Rhino introduced his coworker, which was NOT a "lovefest" IMHO. As we all have opinions, I assume we are both right with differing views, and we will agree to disagree. In the end it's Leonid's decision to keep that line and referee us between that line, so I have no problem abiding by it. But I am voicing my opinion as you are doing yours.

I just think that specific catchphrase created and the length of the arguments over such opinions are moot and now TOTALLY overdone (as none of us are Leonid) and I doubt any new vendor to PS will come here and reasearch this thread and read it to figure out what to do or not. They will learn by Leonid's approval or disapproval through PM.

So why did I waste time giving this explanation? Because I think that many people are so strict with rules that aren't even theirs. Issues about self-promotion and "outing" people who are possibly trolls gets so exhaustive lately that very little talk about diamonds occurs when we have these threads. Just ignore it if you don't like it, and let Leonid worry about who's doing good or bad.

I don't care about a last word, I just care that the policing is being done by too many people and starts to get so restrictive for many. You are more than welcome to rebutt. I respect you and all the knowledge you bring to PS (and your jewelry), I just don't agree with your view.

Clearly you missed my point. BTW, Leonid doesn't operate in a vacuum. That is what separates this forum from others.

You're voicing your opinion as F&I is voicing hers? Not really. You're voicing your opinion and then telling everyone else to let it go. Not quite the same thing.

Just ignore it and let Leonid deal with it? The same could be said with the thread. If Leonid decides it's time to close the thread, then he will. If you really believe it's time to let it go, you're entitled to think so, but then practice what you preach and stop contributing to it yourself.

If you think something is totally overdone, that's your right. There's no requirement here for you to read every comment posted. You can simply ignore it if you choose. But if F&I or anyone else decides they still have something of meaning to contribute, then it's her/their right to do so.

I mean this respectfully. Just because you don't find value in something any longer doesn't mean others won't, and it's kind of presumptive to expect others to be at the same place you are.

That is one of the kewlest things about this forum is that we can discuss things like this.
Everyone has the privelege of being heard on the issues here within reason and the rules.
Honestly the quickest way to lose that privelege is to take it away from someone else by telling them to shut up or drop it.
The next one getting told to shut up might just be you.
That was pointed out to me by someone I respect here (not by leonid) when I jumped on a newbie in open forum for being a bit of a jerk.
The person was right :}

leonid in the end will do what he thinks best for the forum but I feel he also listens when people speak then decides what is best.
I have a lot of respect for him and know from experence it is not an easy job.

Yes, storm. It is foolish & death for a moderator not listen to the very people that contribute to the forum. Vendors have a voice also.
