Question about prongs

My apologies if this is a rather dumb question, but is there such a thing as "snag free" prongs (no bezels)? I know hair and fuzz and stuff will get caught in them, but I'm wondering if there is a prong type or shape that catches on things less than others.

I'm ok with looking down and seeing the occasional piece of fuzz stuck in there, but like when drying your hands on a towel and not snagging/catching on a prong.

Well.. most prongs have their "heads" sticking out near the top of the ring.. especially for solitaires. The only kind-of-snag-free ones I can think of are those used for multiple stones, such as pavés and bar channels. Sorry...

I did read somewhere, though, that some women turn the ring around, so that the stone is on the inside of their hand, when they are putting on a sweater or something else that might snag. Another site suggests having them checked for wear. If it has worn thin, it needs to be re-tipped, and if it is lifted or has a bur, a jeweler has to fix those too.

Hmm. A well made prong that fits the stone snugly like it should really shouldn't truly snag things. A little fuzz... yeah. But if it is truly a problem I would have them inspected by a trusted jeweler. You certainly don't want to lose a stone because a prong snagged and bent!
