Question about pave bands

Hey, all. I have a question regarding pave bands, especially those that cover 3/4 of the shank. Does anyone ever experience finger irritation from rubbing? Does the type/quality of the pave affect the feel? As you may know, I recently ordered a Ritani engagement ring that I had customized. Because of the customizations, the pave ended up farther down the band than expected. Does anyone have a Ritani ring with pave? Is it hard to wear? It's French set.

Thanks

I have a RHR with pave that I wear a ton. It does wrap around the side slightly and I've never experienced discomfort from it. I hope your experience is positive too.

Thanks for the reply. :) that's good to know. My SO has very sensitive skin/hands, so I don't want the pave to irritate her skin. I've heard that Ritani pave feels smooth even though it uses a shared prong design. Can anyone confirm this? I would hate to give her the ring only to find that it's unwearable.

I do not know about Ritani specifically but I've worn rings where the pave bothered my fingers and rings where the pave felt smooth like a a solid band.

Hmm. Well, I'm definitely hoping for the latter. ;) I've heard a lot of great things about Ritani and I've also seen the quality of their pave in person. I just hope that quality = comfort in this case.

We can't tell you how your lady's skin will react, she could have a one in a million reaction, or she could be just fine. There's just some things you can't know until she wears it . Hopefully there won't be an issue. I don't have ritani pave I have scott kay, and mine has never bothered me. And I've worn some pave that has irritated me. But any ring takes some getting used to... at least a couple weeks before you stop being conscious of it all the time.

Thanks, Gypsy. I know that you can predict a personal reaction to something, but I'm asking in a more general sense. Basically, should higher quality pave feel smooth like plain metal or rough and separated? Does it depend on the cut/placement?

It depends on a lot of things. Type of pave is one. Skill is another. Now large the stones are. Sometimes even the metal used.

I've played with a lot of pave. And it really just depends. My mom was looking at a Ritani ring for a while so I remember that their pave was very smooth. But that ring was bright cut, not french pave... so I don't know if the Ritani French pave is the same.

Good news is, if she has an issue, I'm sure with Ritani's customer service they will do all they can to make it work out. You are in good hands.

Yes. I've had 2 rings with pave bands that drove me crazy, so when I reset this time I went for a plain shank for that very reason. I agree with Gypsy, that's not to say she'll have a problem. I'm sure Ritani will take very good care of you. :)

I always thought I would have a problem with pave, but turns out I don't at all. I may be weird, but I'm not bothered by 30 pointers all around. ;) It probably does depend on how well it's done.
