Purchased Asscher/Square Emerald, what do you think?

Looks great to me! Have you chosen your setting yet?

I am no expert but to me the dimensions seem a bit small for a 1.5 ct.

Did you request an ASET image before you bought it?

Asscher's are cut pretty deep so many of them will face up in the 6.0-6.2mm range for 1.5cts. They're beautiful but face up tiny compared to other shapes.

Yes, this. It's not small for an asscher. My 1.23 faces up like a .8 round. SIGH. But I love it anyway. ::)

I really like the faceting on this stone! :appl:

No, i did ask and they said it would take an extra 3-5 days. I preferred to visually inspect the diamond and If i do not like it I will send it back...

I don't think the ASET for this one will be good; too much "fuzziness" going on under the table.

Faces up like a 1.2 carat asscher. You want to shoot for 7.3-7.5 in a 1.5 carat stone. This one is facing up way too small.

70 depth coupled with very thick girdle is just eating up all the spread. And I don't think it will ASET out well. Keep looking.

I haven't seen any 1.5 carat asschers with a 7.3-7.5mm face... At least in my price range!

What's your budget? Under 10k.

A 1.5 should get you closer to 6.5 mm. I had a 1.54 from GOG that was 6.48 x 6.49, I would try to get closer if you can to the 6.5 mark for a 1.5 ct. James Allen is great to work with so I'm sure they can help you find a few others.

Yes. I messed up.

Sorry. I meant 6.3-6.5. Not 7.5.

I mistyped.

I apologize for the confusion.

Thank you Deco.

I noticed those two diamonds and they are nicer although my budget was $8-8.5k and the one I purchased was $7... It was the nicest one for around my budget i could find.

I didn't run the numbers yet but based off the pictures I think it is pretty. Not really in love with only good for polish but that can always be fixed. I should mention I know very little about step cuts, but I think it is worth looking at especially with a 14 day money back/ return period. Plus GIA cert to boot.

H, Vs1 $7500 or bo. I would offer 7k and see if they woudl take it.

The 20% restocking fee will be hard to swallow should it not perform up to par in person.

Not true in all cases but when you make an offer I have found you can add in the notes that if returned there will be no stocking fee and most vendors will accept that. Really up to the person.

Thank you for all your help, I am definitely going to see the diamond in real life and if J is too yellow or not. Other than the color being a little to dark I really like this one... We shall see! I will post pictures once I receive it and keep you updated of how things go.
