I''m posting because it just feels creepy to read your stories without you guys knowing I''m here regularly.
35.gif

Lol Jas. I agree it does feel a bit creepy doesn''t it?

So my guys are turning 1 in a few weeks can you believe it???

Anyway, anyone have any great suggestions for toys? Everyone keeps asking and I have no idea what they will like tomorrow nevermind over the next few months...

I would prefer the imaginative types of toys vs. electronic ones. But I will take what I can get! I already got them this adorable wheelie thing that they are loving (Prince Lionheart wheelie cow).

I read over here regularly to see what I am in for. Plus I am in the in-between category-not quite with the younger kid moms but my boys were born after the boom on this thread. So it''ll be nice to chat with you ladies again every now and then!

Mine like their little Pooh bear trucks (I''ll try to find a linkie for it) and anything...ANYTHING with interesting textures. Plain ol'' balls are also fun. And bubbles. And drums. I fall over a lot of stuff that makes noises.

How on earth has it been a year????

I have NO IDEA. Thanks for the suggestions-mine LOVE to smash on their daddy''s old drums. Trucks sound like a great idea-I''d LOVE a link to the ones that your boys like.

neat-I second trucks/cars anything they can push around. Jake loves this fisher price ball popper toy. He got it last Christmas and still plays with it almost daily:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002B555QQ/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00007G39I&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=19BXM47EE5BD4HZYSQE6

I love anything made by leapfrog. The fridge letters, the alphabet ball, the Scout doggie. The fisher price airport, the barn, the castle etc. are all a hit too. Jake also got one of those kid size basketball hoops and he really loves it. I keep it in our playroom.

Jas!

tacori-Hope your flights were smooth and that you ended up getting to sit by T..

lili-love the new avatar pic of J

mrsmitchell- i cannot believe A is 18 months already. I don''t have any real words of advice b/c I do stay at home but I do think what you are feeling is completely normal.

NF: Linkie

This is the ONLY toy my kids have played with every day since they got it. Oy.

Thanks lili and Mrs S for the sympathy. I''ve got things in perspective today I think - I can''t have it all ways so I have to make the best of it. I''m planning a few days with just me and A, so DH can work some extra hours on his flexi time system. That way we''ll have more time as a family over Christmas. Mrs S, she was 18 months on Saturday. Where did our tiny babies go?!

NF, can''t believe these little guys are going to be a year old. If it''s any help, the toys A plays with most and with most concentration are the ones that don''t ''do'' anything, by which I mean things like building blocks, toy cookware sets, stacking cups and plastic boxes. She also loves her ride-on truck. Electronic things bore her after the first half hour. She likes to play with a ball, too. That''s how we discovered that our living room floor is on a slope, I spend a lot of time crawling behind the couch to retrieve balls.

Jen

Thank you SO much ladies for the suggestions! Looks like we'll be getting some balls, blocks, and another ride on toy at the very least. I didn't even think of balls/basketball believe it or not but it makes perfect sense developmentally-duh!

Hey everyone we survived! How funny that thread in hangout too. She was pretty good. There were small bouts of crying when we tried to force her to stay in her seat and when she didn''t understand why she could not watch her dvd player yet. Over all I think she didn''t change anyone''s mind not to have children so I consider it a success. We did all get to seat next to each other and it was so much easier having a seat for her. Even at times when she was on my lap we spilled into the extra seat. Those seats are SKINNY.

TGal, I am NOT looking forward to waiting in line. We have so many preschools too I don''t really understand the need. I much prefer waiting lists.

Curly, glad I don''t live in NYC. I didn''t even have an interview for college.

Burk, if it is meant to be, you will get the house. Sorry about the photos and T not smiling. I will have to check them out when I get a chance. I am sure they are great b/c you have such a beautiful family.

Diver, glad you are back!

Janine, not brave, stupid! Haha.

Vesper, most of the programs here are church base too. We would also prefer a secular but they are so much more expensive.

MrsM, oh you poor thing. I was never T''s favorite person so I cannot relate but I can understand what a tough adjustment that is. Don''t worry. She will come back. A girl always needs her mother.

Bobo, thanks friend. It wasn''t so bad.

Lili, hopefully I get get my essay wrapped up this week. Love the new AV. She is such a pretty girl.

Jas, I miss you as usual.

NF, I posted something in the gear thread you boys would love. They might be a tad young though but I am sure they are gifted like their parents
2.gif
It''s the back bounce racer thing. I can''t remember what her favorite toys were last year. Instruments, rider toys, kitchen (she got for her first), table and chairs and all things coloring....ball pit.

MrsS, we didn''t get kicked off the plane so that''s good!

C loves her Leap Frog Musical Table, was great for getting her to stand and cruise. I''m not as against musical toys etc.

Jas - link didn''t work for me!

Jas - link didn''t work for me!

We also have the leapfrog table. I am not against musical toys at all- and I should clarify that I would just prefer to have *mostly* toys that allow them to use their imaginations rather than have a living room full of electronic toys that just have them smash buttons KWIM?

They love their leapfrog table and I am totally all for having a few of those toys. But for example a friend of mine has an entire living room of practically the same toys just from different brands! All tables that light up with music when you hit buttons. So just wanted to try and branch out a little more.

Thanks Tacori-I will check that other thread out.

Jen~Glad you''re able to have some one-on-one time with A. You were not whiny at all in your post. We all get where you are coming from!!

Bobo~Thanks! Sorry about the drop in visit. That has to be a bit stressful!

lili~Exactly...want her to talk and love that every day something new comes out but sometimes just wish she''d be quiet for like a minute!
41.gif

Jas~Hey there Jas! Sorry you''re having to deal with drama....glad you checked in!

Neat~T has the ball popper Mrss posted and still plays with it a lot. I also agree with push toys. She also has some cars and trucks that she loves. Even though she has so many toys it makes my head spin the only things that consistently hold her attention are books and coloring stuff (color books, paper and markers, ect...oh, and stickers!).

Tacori~Glad you checked in and everything went well. I believe everything happens for a reason so us not getting the house will be best I''m sure! My not so smiley T really tested my patience but I think there were a couple okay pics....even ones that weren''t very smiley.

Mrs. M - I don''t really have any words of wisdom but wanted to offer a virtual hug ((((((JEN)))))). My little guy is completely a daddy''s boy so I''m second best too. I try not to let it bother me and if I''m really feeling it then I''ll banish DH to the man cave and spend some alone time with James.

Re: TOYS. James has too many. They multiply when you''re not looking
3.gif
James loves anything that makes noise, electronics, and cars/trucks. He also loooves the Dyson. We might get him a kid-sized vacuum for Christmas. He also likes things that he can push around.

neat: oh didn''t mean to insinuate anything-just that I tend to be more relaxed among the moms when it comes to food/toys etc. so was just wanted to make that disclaimer with my recommendation. I totally agree on needing some toys that require more than pushing buttons (or at least one that doesn''t need batteries). I''m going to check out the ball popper which seems really fun.

Below is something I''d also like to find, but not as elaborate or expensive as this version:

http://www.sensationalbeginnings.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=H+3+197X

Also looking for laptop for a 1 + year old that is educational (ie not pushing buttons to hear music) since she really is obsessed with my laptop. I''ve seen these:

http://familyinternet.about.com/od/hardwareforkids/fr/mypckeyboardrev.htm

but we only have laptops at home. Anyone have suggestions?

Also considering some big block legos and the FP barn (since I loved that toy when I was little -- was made out of wood back then!). This is for Xmas, so I don''t normally buy these many toys!! When she''s older I''m looking forward to getting a little table so she can sit and color, etc. Let me know what you come up with Neat!

Toys that M likes are:
Balls – all sizes, she even plays with Daddy’s 8lbs medicine ball and yoga ball.
Stuffed animals – she likes to tackle them.
Mega Blocks
Rocking duck
Ball popper – just started liking this the last couple of months. Before that she was scared of the blowing noise, but now she push the button just to have the air blows in her face.
Cars/Transformers – it’s b/c she has a 5 yrs old cousin who play with these.
Crayons/Pens/Markers

I am not planning on getting her anything for Christmas. She''ll get plenty from aunts and uncles.

Jen
Glad you will get some one-on-one time with A. What you feel is normal. I feel that way even if M just wants Daddy for the moment. It''s just that we have so much love for our babies, and not getting the attention from them is just heartbreaking.

Tacori
Glad the flight went well. I saw the thread in hangout, and thought is it something I want to read. I haven''t yet.

lili
Love the new avatar. J is so grown up now.

M is teething, and three canines are coming. She is biting on everything and drooling. I gave her Sophie, and she doesn''t like it anymore. She squeezed it, and when it squeaked, she threw it away like she was scared. So funny.

She is having tandrum when she doesn''t get what she wants or if we take something she''s not supposed to be playing with away. She cried and cried. No arching back yet, but it''s pretty bad already. hehe.

Hope all the mommies, toddlers and their family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

lili, I am hesitant with the H1N1 vaccine. little B didn''t get fever with last year''s flu shot but had fever for 24 hrs after this year''s flu shot. He usually runs a fever after vaccine except the chicken pox which really surprised me.

DH''s sister is here for business and to check up on her husband, the living situation is not as bad as I thought it would be. He don''t get home late until 11 pm and leave the house early around 9 am. Still, I can''t wait until he move out or go back home.

Neat, little B loves ball, and anything that makes noise.

Tacori, glad the flight went pretty smooth. Have a wonderful trip.

Thanks Burk, the visit definitely throw us off our normal routine but oh well, it''s the holidays.

QT, sorry to hear M is teething, hope both of u get more sleep soon.

NF, someone got Amelia a kids dyson for her birthday. So far she has never shown any interest in it and I can only conclude it''s because she has no idea what it''s supposed to be for. I don''t like to take the unnatural risk of vacuuming too often- nature abhors a vacuum.
9.gif

Tacori, I was A''s favourite right up until we stopped BFing. Then she discovered that Daddy could provide snacks as well as everything else and she never looked back. I''m hoping she (and T) will outgrow that soon!

Diva, thank you for the hug. LOL @ mancave! I wish DH had such a thing but sadly no. Maybe I could dig a basement?!

qtiekiki, thank you for understanding. It does help to know that we all feel like this sometimes.

Wishing all the mommies and babes a happy Thanksgiving.

Jen

Mrs M...Not much advice here, but my son was a momma''s boy until last year. Now he''s daddy''s lil'' man. My daughter is a momma''s girl too. I think it cycles. My dh had to endure the kids only wanting me for a long time. Now I have to respect my son''s preference for his dad. He does love me, but if his daddy is home, he wants him.

Preschool: Oh good grief don''t get me started. I had to wait in line, in January, 2 years in a row to get Jake in. Last year I got to the school at 4 am, was the first mom in line and he got the LAST SLOT. In an afternoon class no less. How the morning filled up before I have no idea.

My daughter is on wait lists all over town. Each wait list has an application fee and its just ridiculous.

I hope everyone has a fantastic Turkey Day! I''m sitting on the couch watching UP with the family. Such a cute movie. It was my Tday surprise for them.

xoxo

jackie--
LOL about feeling like a peeping tom :D
You can always post a hi w/ some pictures of your cutie pies!

NF--
Wow, your boys are going to be one already?
I don''t like the electronic toys as well, but J does have some -- like the learning toys and ball popping ones, which she plays on and off.
Popular ones are more the shape sorter and the push and toy toys for her.

MrsS--
Thanks.
Hehe, just saw your Xmas avi.
Can''t believe it''s that time of year again.

Tacori--
Glad to hear that the flight went well.
Hope the leg home goes just as smoothly.

NF- lili''s mention of the shape sorter reminded me that Jake loves his. It''s the one made by tupperware and has 10 shapes. He likes it way better than the box style one''s. I''m actually missing a few of the shapes and was thinking of getting one of ebay. I think they are pricey new, almost $30 but they go for around $10 on ebay. you can search tuppeware shape sorter and it will pop up there.

I hope all the US mommies had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We ate way too much as usual for this Holiday but everything was so good! Now to get the rest of my Christmas decorations up and do some fun Christmas shopping!!

Hope everyone had a great thanksgiving! I survived mine, so that means it was good enough (haha). Back at work today though..

We had one mishap--C got sick in the car. Everywhere, before we''d even arrived at our destination. She did the same thing the week before. Now she has literally never thrown up/spit up before, so I wasn''t too prepared. I''m wondering if it''s the car motion or eating too much before the car. Anyone have experience with this or tips? If not, maybe let me know how on earth you clean a Britax seat (ugh!).

Lili: I love the new avatar--she is so big!

NF: any gifts on the top of the list yet! I second shape sorter, C loves hers although she does get frustrated when things don''t go her way (but that''s how she learns, right?).

Tacori: glad the flight went well!

hey mommies...just checking in. no time to really catch up, been super busy with finishing last minute baby stuff and the holidays and keeping up with B. but hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving and hope all the kids are doing well!!

Sorry to butt in, but Neat - that wheely cow is just adorable! What size do you have, and when were you able to start using it?

Janine - Oh no! Does the cover come off? It must somehow and I''m sure you can put it in the washer at home. I dread the day James gets sick - for real throws up. I don''t do puke. At all. I''ve sent DH to his parents house before when he got food poisoning! I just can''t tolerate it - it makes me sick! I feel so embarassed to even post that
38.gif

I hope everybody had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We ate dinner with my parents and sister and then went to DH''s parents to have dessert. We''re alternating families from now on - at least until James is a bit older and wants to have the holidays at home.

I went Black Friday shopping with my sister this afternoon and it was so much fun. We didn''t have much shopping to do since we spread it out over the year, but it was fun people watching and also getting some things for James.

janine real quick, but wanted to say that B has the baby dyson and he loves it to death!! he cleans all day long. it''s a real fun toy for him.

Hi Diver! Thanks for that.

Good to see you. Sorry about your gorgeous diamond, hope the hunt for a new one goes well.

I am back! T was pretty good on the flights. A few moments of tantrum, screaming, crying but all in all she was a good girl. Traveling is stressful for everyone. She was a blast at my parents house. Total charmer. She was obsessed with their piano. They also have an amazing children''s museum there (so jealous) and she had so much fun. Hope all the mamas and toddlers had a wonderful Thanksgiving! This year has been one of my hardest which has changed my perspective and really given me clarity to see all my blessings. I have a lot to be grateful for and this thread is one of the things I am truly thankful for!

I still need to catch up but real quick...
Janine, the two times T has had real vomit was in the car too. Gross. The cover comes off and looks as good as new. DH did white on it (under the cover) how to put it back together what was actually pretty smart.

hi mommies, I hope everyone is having a great weekend. other than a nice mile walk with Jake and my dog I''ve been playing nurse to both of my girls who have been running fevers since the middle of the night last night. I did take them to the dr. today b/c Lily was also complaining of a headache, sore throat, and tummy ache and the nurse said I''d better bring them in. Good news that strep tests came back neg. but they do have some type of virus that will take a few days to recover. motrin and fluids and rest. My oldest has perked up a bit tonight but lily is still not well at all. I''m hoping she feels better in the morning. dr. also said it''s very contagious and to keep a close eye on jake. but, I''m so grateful it''s not the flu or strep. I did manage to get a little Christmas shopping done and the house is decorated so being home with all the pretty lights really isn''t so bad

Sorry to butt in, but Neat - that wheely cow is just adorable! What size do you have, and when were you able to start using it?

Isn''t it super cute? We got the small one which my boys LOVE to wheel around. They just recently have started to be able to use it on their own a bit and we''ve had it for a few weeks. They really can''t use it "properly" until they are starting to learn to stand and climb on their own. Before that they just liked playing with the cow''s ears and pushing it around like a car. But they both love it!

We are so getting that for Hunter this xmas!
36.gif
He loves to stand and walk around things now so I think he would totally enjoy it.

MrsS: Sorry your kids are sick. I think I''m going to have to go on a walk or something today too. My dog would love a stroll.

I had a head on collision with a monster plate of mashed potatoes and stuffing yesterday. The plate won. I think I can actually SEE my thighs growing.

I don''t even know why I bother will all the other stuff at Thanksgiving. All I want is potatoes, stuffing & gravy anyway.

So Bobo..you had another little on? Little B is so cute! Love those cheeks...wanna kiss ''em!

So who else is on their next baby now? I know Burk is...

Tacori?
Tgal?

Anyone?

Because when Jake turned 2, I got pg with Delaney. Of course we are done (tubes tied and all) but I can see why folks get pg when the youngest turns 2...I am having baby fever lately. But I don''t want more kids, just more babies.
