Hi! I'm thinking of having a diamond pendant necklace made. I intend to wear the necklace pretty much all the time. I'm at the beginning of this process and looking at some different designs. I realized I should figure out prong vs. bezel, and that might help me narrow down the design choices. If I got prong setting, would likely be 4 prong. Regardless the setting, the metal color will be white. I have some questions below, but feel free to give me any other advice you may have about prong vs. bezel set. Thank you!
1. Is one setting more durable/stronger than another?
2. Prongs can loosen, but what about bezel settings? Are bezels safe with ultrasonic cleaning? Do bezel settings neeed to be periodicaly checked by jeweler for tightness?
3. Are they similar in strength and just comes down to a style preference? I've read bezels can make a diamond look larger (and whiter), and I've read can make it look smaller b/c it covers more surface area of the diamond than prongs.
Thank you!
