Not sure how to ask this...but look at the bottom view of this princess cut. On the right side it looks like there are extra lines (what I am calling "extra half chevrons"). Does this represent something weird with the way the diamond is cut? Or is it just caused by the imaging/scanning process when generating this image?

My guess is that it is a bad scan. But it could also be wonky cutting. Or a combination of both. The angle changes on the chevrons can be very small and as such the scanners sometimes have difficulty discerning them accurately.

Do you have other information about the stone? A lab report would deem the meet point symmetry to be poor, which would be an indication that the problem is not just with the scan.

Thanks, Bryan! The GIA report shows symmetry as "very good".

Also, do you know the desirable girdle thickness for a well cut princess cut?

In that case it is likely a bad scan. Well cut princess will have girdles in the 2-4% range.
