preloved or vintage cartier trinity ring designs - help!

Hi all,

I really want to buy a Cartier trinity but from eBay or similar site to save on the cost but the problem is some of the sellers don’t seem to know if they have the classic or the small model and it is too hard to tell from the pics. Both sellers I’m looking at were the original buys and have papers . One is from 2009 so does anyone know if the small model was around back then? Does the seller not know because there weren’t all these different models?

Also I am technically size 4.75 but prefer 5 should I get 49 or 50? Some people say size up, but Cartier site says size down so it's really confusing.

I’m not in a location where I can try on any, sadly.

Get a 49, it’s a size 5. I can tell by looking which one it is so do you have a pic?

Oh and as to when they made or didn’t make certain sizes, it’s a mess. They’ve made a lot of changes in and off over the years, it’s not something to go by.

I would caution on the size as I just found out I’m a larger size than I expected for trinity rings. I have a size 6 Hidalgo band that I used to wear regularly on my right middle finger but have moved to my left hand as it clashed with my new ring. I was thinking of getting a trinity ring to use on the same finger and stopped by Cartier last night. A size 55, which is about a 7, turned out to be my size to let it roll on smoothly in both the xs and small sizes. I did not try the classic or large as I wasn’t interested in them so they may be sized differently.

another difference I’ve noticed is on some rings the word Cartier is black don’t know is it’s patina or age and others it’s all gold.

It was the small version.

Looks like the 3.5 classic. To be sure, ask the seller to measure the inside of one of the bands. It’s a pretty big difference, 2.8 to 3.5. It definitely needs polishing however, it’s pretty patina’d.
