I hate to say it, but that idea brought to mind all kinds of other thoughts about performance, etc. But I am too conservative to post it.Date: 10/8/2007 7:27:44 PM

ROFLMAO....... seriously! my DH called out from the other room ''what is so funny?!?'' thank you for that!Date: 10/8/2007 3:39:11 PM

If they ever start selling husbands on the internet that might change. I can just see everybody talking about James and Howards IS imagesand discussing how various Length length to Arm length to Shoulder width ratios will impact performance.![]()
and then of course if you call in for a reservation to choose between a couple of prime candidates in person you can''t just make a decision based on how they will look in the store suit. You would have to try to see them in various clothing and postures, in pajamas, bathing suit, khakis and loose shirt, laying down, picking up boxes, etc etc...lots of studying.![]()

yes, exactly.... thank you for saying that!!! i''m amazed you picked up on that! i don''t know why i have felt i *should* want the ritani but you''re absolutely right, i do think that''s how i''ve felt. both my DH and my mom loved the ritani (and their preference was reinforced with my poll. though the longer they compared the two, the more the both saw the draw of the eli). however i tend to always do what is right for me in the end, regardless of influence, and that usually involves going against the popular opinion. so while i''m sure that all has some influence, i''m not sure that is entirely what is making me feel i *should*..... i think my mind would be put to ease if i could just figure out what is making me feel that way. i''ve been analyzing it to death trying to figure out if there is something about the ritani speaking to my psyche that i''m missing, but all i come up with are arguments in favor of the eli. and my DH has been saying to me, it''s the eli, it''s the eli, look how excited you get about it.Date: 10/8/2007 8:01:47 PM

rainydaze, it''s obvious you''ve thought a lot about the pros and cons and based your post I think for some reason you think you *should* want the Ritani but deep down in your heart you really want the Eli and make a great case for why it''s the better choice. I''m glad your quote from Pearlmans is something you feel good about and you know you couldn''t be in better hands than going though them. i''m so looking forward to tomorrow to hear what your final choice is and most of all, can''t wait to see pics of your new ring...
thank you parkerj! you have been such a huge help to me and i can''t thank you enough for posting your pics and giving me your first-hand experience with eli, as well as your jeweler''s info. it was very reassuring that i had a positive avenue to explore!Date: 10/8/2007 8:07:08 PM

thank you madam bijoux (love the name, i have french heritage and sometimes the little ones en famille were referred to as petite bijoux) - your thoughts helped confirm my decision. i kept trying to think back to when i tried it because one thing i was concerned about was the relationship of the halo to the center. it''s hard to tell from pics if everything is proportioned such that the center was not overwhelmed. when i had it on my finger i tried to pay attention to this but at the same time i was so distracted by how pretty it all was that i didn''t ''record'' it well for when it was out of sight. all i remember is just a thing of beauty sitting on my hand. so i figured that must mean everything was in balance as you say, and that is very important to me.Date: 10/9/2007 8:39:04 AM

Hi! I''m late to this poll. Eli made the setting for my Royal Asscher. It doesn''t have a halo - it''s a split shank with pave'' on the shanks and channel set round brilliants between the shanks and milgrain on the rest of the shank. I like the proportions of the Eli settings I''ve seen better than I like the Ritani proportions - there is a better balance. One of the channel set stones in my setting was a bit loose and had to be tightened, but that often happens with channel set stones. I vote for the Eli setting.
*ahem* do we get to see pics of this royal asscher now that the ring is complete and you are happy?!? i went looking, and i see you were holding out, i didn''t miss it, did i? it sounds divine!Date: 10/9/2007 8:39:04 AM

SOOOOOO...... I DID IT!!!!!!! I JUST PLACED THE ORDER FOR THE ELI WITH PEARLMAN''S!!!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!
That was part of the reason I initially voted for the Ritani. That and because the pic did not show how nice and unique the Eli really was. After parkerj posted her pic and I looked at some online... WOW... I was amazed by the Eli and was rooting for it!Date: 10/9/2007 4:54:45 PM

Yay!Truthfully, I think the reason Ritani won in the poll was that more people were familiar with it. Which one do I think is a finer piece of jewelry? The Eli.![]()

My wife has been asking me to get dressed in pajamas, dress clothes, and bathing suits while I pick up large boxes. Can anyone tell me what this is all about?

Hi Rainy-
I haven''t started a SMTR thread yet, but here''s a picture of your ring''s cousin--with the required flower shot! I can''t wait to see yours!
Parker
ok, you''re the second person to say you could tell i was trying to talk myself into the ritani so now i''m going back to read this thread to see if I can see it!!Date: 10/16/2007 9:14:47 AM

Okay, I don''t know how I missed this thread, but I am so excited for you! I think you made the right choice and I think you knew deep down which one you liked the best! I could tell you were trying to talk yourself into the Ritani, but that you loved the Eli one. Good for you, can''t wait to see it!
