point me in a good direction please (re: appraisals)

alrighty... so I have a GOG rock in Mark Morrell''s possession. I had it shipped directly to him, haven''t seen it in-person yet. The completed piece is likely due within a month or so. What should I do about getting this thing appraised when it''s finished? I figure I''ll have Mark ship it to an appraiser, who will then ship it to me... and then I insure it? I''m new to this stuff.

Anyway, I need advice for who to get it sent to. Katie (Mark''s daughter, I think) mentioned Rich Sherwood and Joe Tenhagen as two they''ve sent finished rings to, but she didn''t mention any preference or favorite (I asked). So... who should I seek out to appraise my ring?

And just b/c I know some of you are wondering... the ring is a Petite Torchiere w/ a 1.06ct J. I''ll post photos when I can.

OOOh! I also have a petite torchiere in the works with him! How exciting.
We chose an appraiser in our area (san diego) and had the loose stone appraised (we had it sent to us from WF) and then the appraiser sent the stone to MM.
He will send the finished ring back to our appraiser and the ring will be reappraised and insured.

Pricescope has a list of recommended appraisers here: https://www.pricescope.com/appr_list.aspx based on what area you live in. Check that and if not just go with one of the noteable ones MM or GOG mentioned.
