Please tell me which diamond is better! I am buying tomorrow

I am looking at two different diamonds. Please tell me which is better and why.

1. The first one is a H&A from Brian Gavin 2.122 I Si1

2. The second one actuall scores better on the Holloway Calculator from James Allen 2.27 I VS2 $22,390

Do you have an idealscope image for the JA one? A lower HCA score doesn't mean anything, as long as it's below two. The BGD one doesn't need an HCA score, the IS image and AGS certification trumps it.

I agree with Hawk25 you may want to request an idealsope for the JA stone. Generally speaking you get alot more info about the BG diamond as it has an AGS report and comes with a computer generated ASET, and proportion numbers that are more workable as they arent as rounded as those form GIA. The BG one has a clean table for an SI1 which is a +, ultimately to make a true comparison you would need to see both together but without the luxury of that I would ask lots of questions of each. Specifically how they feel the color and clarity grades hold up in their respective ranges. Ask if there is any tinge to either of them, are they great I's or closer to J's. Odds are the JA diamond is virtual inventory, meaning they dont have it on hand so it may be tougher to get answers.

Thanks for the advice. I have requested the idealscope from JA but it has not come yet. Is the diamond from Brian Gavin really going to sparkle that much more? Is it worth extra money and sacrificing a little size?? Please, everyone give your opinion!

You will not notice the size difference in those two... I would get the less expensive of the two. ...but, that's me.

I agree 100%. JA has a great return policy and gives PS members a discount....There is a size difference, but I'd see how you like it first. If you have to buy tomorrow, get the bigger one and see how it looks.

I would wait for the idealscope image to come in on the JA diamond before making a decision. That will tell you more about the light performance. Also JA will let you pick up to 3 diamonds for an idealscope and gemologist review. I would take advantage of that. I can't post links right now but there were a few that looked like they have potential in your specs.

I believe BGD also gives a PS discount, one that's probably similar to JA's.

It has strong blue fluorescence which helps the stone look whiter.

It's really a matter of personal preference!

I would personally prefer a J color with fluorescence, rather than an I color without fluor.
