Please show me SI/I clarity diamonds that you LOVE!!!

I have an Eightstar that is graded I1 but the inclusions are only visible from the back of the diamond. Face up without magnification it is eyeclean. Steal of a deal because of this.

Here is a picture.

I kinda like having a barely-visible inclusion in a diamond. It is a great fidget toy. My 1.2 ct OEC is an SI1, and has a small fleck that you can see if you get the light bouncing off one single facet in just the right way. You have to turn it back and forth to get it to flash just right, and then the inclusion is backlit and you can see a teensy fleck blocking the light. It gives me something to fiddle with, lol. Took me months to find it though. If it''s dirty it mixes in with any dust too well to pick out.

May I ask the size and color?

I definitely don''t think people should be afraid of SI1, in the vast majority of cases. In my experience, you have to start checking with SI2''s. But some of those are eyeclean and its not always because of the cut either. I have an SI2 that is transitional between an old mine and an OEC and you can see the inclusion at once with a loupe, it''s smack in the center of the stone, but even my 15 year old with the very sharp eyesight (I usually have him check out my diamonds) can''t see it without the magnification. This stone is small, though-- it''s a .25. I don''t know if they get more obnoxious in stones of larger sizes.

In my experience, you can definitely wear I1 or even I2 in pendants, depending on the kind of inclusion. I have a heart pendant that is either I1 or I2. You can definitely see the inclusions in that with the naked eye if you are up close--but who leans in right next to your neck? The inclusions are all white. Not like a cloud--like little white specks. When the light catches them, they turn kind of golden and add to the sparkle of the stone, which is already very sparkly. The pendant is constantly admired on my neck and it doesn''t have any spectacular cut--I think it''s actually cut rather badly, it''s a heart and it was cut for spread.

I''m buying an SI3 diamond right now on layaway--and we all know that SI3 means I1, in plain English. It''s a large marquise--11.57 x 5.57 (I forget the last measurement) With a loupe, you can see a cloud and some inclusions on the side of the stone quite clearly, but without a loupe, even my 15 year old (he is my standard since my eyes got old) can''t see anything. I know I wouldn''t have wanted an I1 as an engagement ring (mine is VS quality) or in a special present (I actually got VS2--overkill- for my ACA earrings) but for the other ''fun'' jewelry, it makes a lot of things affordable that otherwise wouldn''t be. I think that the ''I'' grading is an issue when the stone is so included that it gets milky and dull, or when you have those big black boogers or lots of little black pepper specks, but the grade making inclusions are not always like that. If you are buying online, I would just make the sure the vendor knows what will really really bother you--and that there is a good return policy. And I don''t suggest them for e-rings that are a surprise to the giftee--there are a lot of women who would really really mind that, sometimes even if they can''t see the problem with their naked eye; you know, the ''mind-clean'' thing.

i''m really glad you made this thread. it really makes me feel a lot better about the ring i chose. i admit i bought it entirely for the setting (which i have never seen anything akin to), though the stones are si2-i1. two of the stones have feathers which i can see if i look closely. though my fi says nobody else can see them, i can see them and they bother the heck out of me. i''m trying really hard to love them, but i''ve been having rather a hard time. thanks, ladies, for showing your lovely stones! they really make me feel a lot better about my ring until we can upgrade!

This is my J SI1. I can''t see any inclusions in it, but I''m no expert so probably wouldn''t know what to look for anyway!!

Here's mine, 1.35ct F SI2 See the red arrow in the table in my avatar?

From most angles, you don't notice that garnet-colored crystal. In some lights and at some tilts, it's right there, due to being suspended in the table zone and relatively close to the surface. But you have to study this one up close to notice that speck. I don't have a great camera, and I had to take about 20 shots before I got that speck to show up in a photo. The stone is completely clean otherwise. It's reflecting leaves and sky and such, plus the camera can't focus well without a tripod, and that's what all the the other apparent "junk" in it is.

SI1 Top right corner is the inclusion. Most of it is covered up by the prong

Here''s another pic of my so-called I2. 1.10 ct F color. Soon to become the main stone in a custom pendant.

Here's my .93 Y-Z SI1 radiant. The main inclusion is hidden beneath one of the prongs, but even then in the micro pictures I got before it was set made it hard to find it. There is a teeny feather that I think I see under the table, but it is really hard to find with a loupe. There is a white spec I can find with a loupe from the side. In really bright light from the side only I can see the teeny spec, but I never look at the ring that way on my finger.

The stone is dirty, so any specs you see under the table are dirt, not inclusions. Sorry for the dirt

Here''s another shot of it. I have to say though, an eye clean SI stone is invaluable to me. You get to save the money due to the inclusions, but you can''t see it without a loupe. Makes it easy to spot my stone with the few little inclusions that I can find with a loupe.

I have 2 H, SI2's, one has black inclusions the other has white. I'll see if I can find the pics I took of their inclusions.

My pendant and studs are all I SI1 and completely eye clean from all distances (the small blessing of having 40+ year old eyes). Even with a loupe I can only see the inclusion in one stud.

Here's my I3. You hear right, I3! It was 400$/1ct and still quite lovely in my opinion. I recently had it reset to cover the inclusion that makes it an I3.

It was originally an earring:

IN it's new setting (the black spot in the middle is reflection, not inclusion)

This is a SI1/2 1.52 H solitaire I have been wearing a lot lately. Love how simple and modern the setting is for everyday wear.

The only way you can see the inclusions is if you look for them under the UV light! :loopy:

That bugged me a lot so now i am just appreciating the shine and brilliance it gave out :)
