Hi everyone,

I opened a topic in the 'Show me your bling' section, about <.5 carat diamonds, I also asked for some advice about the one I am planning to buy.. They said I should try here ;) I am looking for a good quality diamond, about 0.30 - 0.40 (but of course bigger is better, but not a .5 with M color and lousy cut) the one I am looking at right now is this one:

Carat: 0.39
Cut: Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: SI1
Polish: Very good
Symmetry.: Excellent
Fluor: None

Table % 58%
Depth % 62.7%
Culet : None
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick
Measurements: 4.67mm X 4.65mm X 2.92mm

Found here: http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-0-39-Carat-G-color-GIA-certified/D-VRR1JW (the reservation is by me)

Opinions please? My budget is around 1000 dollars including the ring.

What colour would you be willing to go down to? If you're willing to go down a couple of points in carat weight too, you could probably get a stone that rates better with HCA and even has triple excellent/000.

How about something like this from JA
http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.37-carat-h-color-vvs2-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-178784

Or you could always email IDJ too, with your budget and specs and see what they can do. They're great working within a budget and will always try and find the best stone they can.

Not 100% sure about my 'minimum' color, but should be at least somewhere in the 'near colorless' range I think.

I really like the one you posted!! Any other opinions about this one or other suitable ones?

Re the diamond you have on hold at Ritani, it is not proportioned very well, it has a deep pavilion that will likely leak light.

Are you getting a Ritani setting?

The JA diamond is nice.

Two beautiful James Allen diamonds!

Thanks for your advice! Could you define deep pavilion? And I'll be getting a setting wherever I'm buying my diamond, since I'm guessing it's cheaper than getting it done here. And do you mean the first or the second JA one?

A deep pavilion is any pavilion angle that allows too much light to escape the bottom of a diamond, usually as seen in an Ideal Scope picture as the arrows go from black to white and the area under the table going from pink/red to white. A certain amount of light escape not detectable by the the naked eye compared to a stone with solid black arrows and solid pink/red under the table would be considered insignificant leakage.

I meant the I, I don't think you will notice the color difference between H/I and it is a little bigger for a $10 less. JA will inspect 3 diamonds for you.

What about the VS2 instead of VVS2, would you not notice the difference?

I think they are both eye clean.

How about this one? 1.5 on the HCA, you can contact GoG and ask if it's eye clean.

Thanks! But think it's not for me, because it's smaller and much more expensive.. Reconsidered my budget and rather spend around 900 since I pay an additional 20+% in import taxes.
