All - I think I have it narrowed to a couple diamonds from Whiteflash that fit my budget and they are all A Cut Above Princess Cut:

1) 0.741 - G - VS2 - $3,115 http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-3007542.htm
2) 0.772 - H - VVS2 - $3,124 http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2995562.htm
3) 0.814 - H - VS1 - $3,403 http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-3022050.htm
4) 0.727 - F - VS1 - $3,485 http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-3015110.htm
5) 0.743 - G - VVS1 - $3,302 http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut-loose-diamond-2978540.htm

At this point in time I am leaning towards #1 or #5.

a) Is the difference in price between #1 and #5 worth it?
b) Is it worth it to sacrifice colour and go with #3 as it is a bit bigger?
c) I am looking at getting this set on a plain 4 prong Platinum setting since I figure the diamond will be more secure - is it worth the extra $ for platinum?

Love reading the forum by the way!

a) I don't think having such a high clarity like vvs1 is necessary. However, there is no big price difference between 1) and 5). 5) faces up a little bigger. Call WF and ask them to compare the stones.

b)Princess cuts show more color compared to rounds. Have you ever seen an H colored princess cut in person?

c)It is totally up to you. Some people prefer platinum because it is hypo allergic and you do not need to have it rhodium dipped.

I'm fine with SI1s as long as they are eye-clean to your standards. Some people prefer to higher clarity in order to get a stone that is mind clean for them.

In regards to depth and table percentages...??

The G vvs1 has Depth 72.9 and Table 62.5 whereas the G vs2 has Depth 75.2 and Table 70.6
