I recently swooned over some milgrain bezel studs that featured OECs, I'm pretty sure. It wasn't that long ago and yet I can't find the post anywhere! Anyone know the one I am talking about?

Thanks!

Could you mean Deco's beautiful BGD studs? https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/bgd-oec-inside-only-milgrain-studzzzzz.128092/ Or Kelpie's gorgeous Singlestone pair? https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/inadequate-pictures-of-kelpies-collection.149570/

Alternately, Kelpie and Phoenix both have gorgeous milgrained bezeled studs, but with H&As ... I have the sneaking suspicion I'm forgetting someone, but I can't think who! Grr.

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Thanks Circe, that totally answered my question. I think it was Kelpie's pair that I was thinking of, although Deco's are certainly very beautiful too.

I wanted to see them again for some inspiration for a project I am considering. I, too, think that I am forgetting someone...grrr...

Oh, while we are on OECs/OMCs etc., could you please remind me (I don't spend enough time on here obviously) of some bezel set pendants? Again, I remember seeing some lovelies but don't yet have the encyclopedic Pricescope knowledge some of you have...

Thanks a mil!

arjunajane has a gorgeous bezel pendant with an older cut, transitional or OEC. Can't remember but I do remember it's gorgeous :lickout:

My pleasure! It's harder to find the pendant thread since it's not a sticky, but I think there's one general, and one specifically for bezels ... hm. Got it!

Here's the bezel pendant thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-your-bezel-pendants.141502/

Here's the general open pendant thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/show-me-your-diamond-pendant.151094/

I think there was an older pendant thread, too, but I can't seem to find it right now.

P.S. - Search tip: the PS search engine is, er, finicky ever since the changeover, so it's easier to just go to Google and add "PriceScope" to whatever you're searching. Sad, but effective ....

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Thanks DandiAndi (great id, btw :)) ), I seem to recall arjunajane's pendant too and will search for it.

Circe, thanks again. You kept very quiet about your gorgeous studs! I replied in your thread. I know they are not vintage stones, ie not what I was enquiring about, but they are perfection! You must be one happy gal.

I went through the bezel thread and came up with a few OEC/OMC pendants, enough to wet my appetite further!

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Again, my pleasure! I figured I wouldn't be the girl who was all "round bezel pendant? well, mine's a pear, but an opportunity to talk about ME ... :rodent:" - but I was tickled to see another person who shared my exact tastes! I wanted OECs originally myself, but I don't know of any antique dealers who have upgrade policies, and GOG didn't have any matched stones that met my bizarre fluor requirements. So, H&A it was, and now that they're in my possession, I can't say I'm a bit disappointed!

I am, however, salivating at the notion of a pretty set of matched bezeled OEC earrings and studs - when you put this together, you MUST post pics!

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

I love your pear Circe, and the pendant it is in. Did you design that yourself or was it a stock setting from somewhere? And who sourced your pear? I have to say that I don't know much about choosing shapes, so I haven't dared to venture out but a pear would be high on my list.

The OEC studs might have to wait a while, as I just purchased an OEC stone for a pendant! Quite excited really, but it has yet to make it's way to me, so I will wait before I share with everyone.

Enjoy your lovely jewellery!

Aw, thanks! I did design it myself - my custom jeweler is a gem, and great about incorporating little details. He made my wedding band, too, so I had the sides of the pendant engraved with the same stars I have on the band - v. meaningful to me, and a lifetime piece.

I hunted the pear down myself: I'd never bought fancies before, so I depended on the board to help me make the right pick. Lorelei, FB, TyTy, LovingDiamonds and a few others gave me a LOT of advice. Next year I'll be back to hunt down a mate for it - my eventual plan is to convert the studs with a hook or catch or some sort to be able to wear pear dangles when the spirit moves me. :rodent:

Aw, c'mon ... not even a hint about your OEC? Generalities to whet our appetite?

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Wow, you are really lucky to have such a great custom jeweller. I haven't found anyone yet, plus here in the UK it is soooo prohibitive, even for poor standard work. I now have to see your wedding band! I'll lookout for the stars ;))

Oh, ok then! The OEC is a .69 I VS2. It has a decent enough match, which I considered, but I am not sure I would want studs that size for every day as I have small lobes, and I really like that size for a pendant.

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Man, I wish I knew more people in the UK jewelry scene - I know I'm a weirdo, but I think having a custom jeweler is right up there with having a trusted cobbler and tailor in terms of security (I am now channeling my preincarnated self as a privileged Victorian lady, I think). I know we have a couple of UK PSrs who might make suggestions ... alternately, a lot of people are LOVING the jewelers they find through Etsy. I think Julia Kay Taylor is incredibly talented, and her designs and skills are growing by leaps and bounds: alternately, though I've never worked with them, Heart of Water Jewels gets rave reviews.

Definitely a jewelry soul sista - that sounds amazing! I can't wait to see how the pendant turns out. Also, consider me violently jealous of your small lobes ....

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Circe! I just realised I haven't replied to this, how rude of me, sorry! I somehow managed to overlook the post.

Well, I might have small lobes, but I'd much rather have hands with those lovely, long, slim fingers that are like size 4 or something. I am 6.25-6.50 :((

You are totally right in thinking that having a great jeweller is a great bonus; I've just been recommended someone here in London by a friend. He made her a lovely looking bezel ring at a great price, and it was a nicely executed piece of jewellery. I am really excited about meeting him to discuss the pendant.

Hope you are getting pleasure from your gorgeous studs everyday.

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Here Dinamit, sorry I took the pics in fading light. I love them so much more than when they were martinis. Single stone ordered stock bezels and applied hand milgrain, it was very affordable! They are .36 I I1 and .42 K SI2 collected separately off ebay which takes patience.

Oh they are beautiful Kelpie! Great finds! Do you mind me asking how much you roughly paid to have them set?

I also    your deco dangles. You have a real knack for finding gems ;))

Kelpie, I too love your earrings! Could you share any more about single stone? Do you have a thread for these somewhere - any earshots? ty!

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Kelpie, I came back to look some more!

I am now on the lookout for suitable OECs for studs, and need to know how obvious is the size difference when the stones are about 5 points apart? I saw stones I quite like but they are about 3 points apart and I wasn't sure if that's good enough a match! I can be a bit pedantic.

Re: Please help me find the recent OEC (I think!) milgrain s

Hi! Thank you for the compliments on my studs! The size difference is discernible when they are next to eachother but not on the ears. For me finding ones with similiar facet patterns was more important than matching size. I think one is about 4.55 and one is maybe 4.75mm. I would call Single Stone for a quote, they were a couple hundred less than the whiteflash equivalent without delicious milgrain. Sorry I don't have more pictures or a thread, I left them in a safe deposit box at the bank while I'm in East Africa. I may have to retrieve them when next I'm home because I do see people wearing some gold jewelry here, but I must get a lay of the land. I read horror stories about earrings being ripped out of people's earlobes!
