dear PS experts, please help me look for a pear shaped diamond up to $1700 for a necklace. Any ideas where i should start to look? I understand that I should not go too low with color and clarity as these "show" more in a fancy shape. Thanks for your ideas and input.

We have also been having a discussion about pears in another thread, you may want to search because I too have commented quite a bit there or perhaps I can find it for you if you need it; we were talking generals, what you may want to consider, avoid, etc. A lot depends on your preferences too but I think you could read what was said there to get started. I have recentaly became very interested in pears myself and I am surprised to find how many people have and how much the demand for them has increased, actually I am surprised that they used to be really underrated as I certainly find them gorgeous myself but I too did not give them much attention in the past. Perhaps it is to this increased demand for pears that several cutting companies have decided to specialize in this shape.

It is this thread: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/help-thoughts-on-2-76-ct-pear.199691/

Let me know if this works and also more questions, I enjoy this discussion very much.

Perhaps what has been happening is that as demand increased more cutters started cutting pears and now we see more nice examples. I still think it is an incredibly difficult shape to cut well as it will definitely show shadowing, bowties, there can be many very obvious faults due to cutting. Yes it will show more color than rounds as far as a yellow tint but it will also look even more icy white in F and up colors. In fancy colors it may not show as much color as a cushion but some of the nicest examples of fancy colored diamonds have been pear shapes (and so is mine).

This is my favorite...its probably a tad over budget with PS discount. Its also an SI2 but I cant see anything so you'll have
to ask them if its eye-clean. Tiny bit of bow-tie but the faceting pattern is still very nice.

This is nice if you are looking for something without a bow-tie.

Here are some others that I thought were nice. Not sure about the G/IF. They all have some small amount of
bow-tie but not bad (IMO).

I those Ds on JA were pretty nice, yes a bit of bow tie but appealing shapes, could not decide on fave between the left and the right one, talking about the three pix, think my preference for now is the right one, it does bother me that there is no plot. I actually sort of like this pendant, the centerstone looks pretty nice on the photos. Cannot tell enough about the workmanship based on photos but I am not a goldsmith, I am a gemologist and appraiser and I deal with stones and design but do not make the pieces but if you like the pendant OP it is a nice option to consider or you could have your design made. I am working on pear pendant designs too just too many ideas for the moment.:)))

I like your idea, at one point I was thinking of something similar but changed it because I have too many ideas and better go with the ones that were my vision.:))) The stone is not a bad one, would ask about the inclusions, think around 7 there were black crystals, the proportions are nice, not much bowtie, a bit of black shadowing though going on but the shape I find appealing. It may be a good choice to consider.

I have received an offer for a . 90 ct antique pear which is beautiful - chunky and has a cutlet. Warm, color L/M.
Should I consider this at all for a pendant?
