I believe the previous poster is saying "customized" eg she asked them to make changes to an existing ring. You're not doing that, so I really wouldn't worry. My halo posted above is stock.

No. I bought a 2 ct cushion with this setting and after the fact they told me the setting wouldn't accommodate the stone, they had to 'customize' it to fit my stone. It took almost 3 weeks and I got a very horrible result. I did not ask for anything custom. It was just never meant to fit a 2+ carat stone...

The stone Niel found actually scores a .8 HCA so that would be a pretty incredible stone, assuming we're going by the numbers.

My option is a little over $10k but apparently JA offers a small discount when you're a pricescope member, so that would bring the cost down a tiny bit. Sku 127413 is also a .8 HCA.

No vendors do pricescope discounts anymore.

They may have given you an Advantage discount, but they are not supposed to give a Pricescope discount.

Says right on the page the max size is 1.5 so I'm not sure why you were surprised by that or feel it was "after the fact."

However, the other version of that setting (the one with the CAD shown with a round outline) can take up to a 3.5 according to their page and can be made for a cushion... The ring I bought, says it can take up to 8ct. So this person would not be in your situation.
