Hi Everyone

I'm looking to buy a half carat (or bigger) diamond to set in a white gold solitaire pendant setting for my daughter's 21st birthday in March.

Specifications:
- Excellent cut
- Face up eye clean
- Almost colourless (don't mind J/K as long as the tint is not obvous under most circumstances
- Medium to strong fluoro (as she likes it - as long as it doesn't go hazy).
- Modern Round Brilliant.

I can have the setting done here in Singapore so doesn't need to be set unless I can get a really good deal on the purchase of both together. I plan on a setting where the chain passes through the back of the basket rather than with the loop/bale at the top of the stone.

Budget for stone would be $1,000 max - preferably less.

There is no immediate hurry as I still have time but I thought seeing as there seems to be some sales going on over in the USA, it might be prudent to look now?

Many thanks
:wavey:

PS - Happy Thanksgiving.

Okay, I haven't broached recommending diamonds to anyone yet so this is new territory for me! I only looked at Brian Gavin as I'm currently waiting on my Ering from them and they were great to work with, using your preference of $1000 and around .5ish I've got a couple of suggestion:

Neither come with idealscopes, but they are AGS Ideal so I think you'd be okay. You'd need to check that the SI1 was eyeclean, but if you go to the live chat someone there will be able to tell you straight away as these are both in-house stones. Unfortunately they didn't have any of the Blue line in your budget. An I colour should still face-up really white especially as they are AGS 0.

So as far as my disclaimer goes, I can't see anything wrong with these, but someone with more experience than me (basically anyone here) may tell you there's something wrong with them. You could always live chat with the guys at Brian Gavin, give them your preferences and see what they offer?

I hope that helps in some way!

Stephny - thank you for the links. I liked the look of the .61 but JA advised it's not eyeclean. They are looking for some others for me.

04diamond - thank you for taking the time to send me those links - those stones are a little on the small side as it is a 21st birthday gift I kinda want to hit the minimum half carat for her.

Stargurl - thank you - I did already ponder that one so you gave me a push and I've sent him a message.

Enjoy your holiday.

I see what happened...You posted the wrong responses...You meant what you wrote for me for stephny and what you wrote for them for me.

The .61 stone is an si2, but you need to keep in mind that it's a smaller stone, so it won't be nearly as noticeable.

How about this? :

Ladies - I apologise for getting my replies mixed up - clearly wasn't firing on all cylinders when I posted that reply. I do appreciate your help.

Heididdl - thank you for the new leads on DiamondBistro - I'll follow up.

I'm not a colour snob but I do think I will need to go J or higher because she is young, she has eagle eyes and she is not keen on yellow tint. Although, having said that, I have seen K colours that I would have sworn were much higher than that so I'm keeping an open mind.
