I am searching for a diamond replace another in my ring. The dimensions of the stone currently set is 7.12 x 7.19 x 4.36 mm with a total weight of 1.3 carats. The setting is a simple solitaire with double claw prongs. The stone is a modern round brilliant shape.

My challenge is finding a near to direct replacement in my budget of $6000-6500, firm. Cut quality is paramount and I am willing to wiggle on color (no warmer than I) and carat size (though, I'd really like to preserve the original size of the stone). My preference is no more inclusions than VS2, maybe S1, but I may entertain a S2 with a fortunate inclusion that can be covered by the prongs. Fluorescence may be acceptable as well.

Below are a few diamonds that appeal to my novice eye and I would love for some feedback and suggestions. Thanks in advance for your help and time!

The third one is very nice! I wouldn't consider the other 3. I'm going to take a look to see what I can find, but here are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA excellent cut stone.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0

pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0 if the crown angle is close to 34)

Eta: Stick to GIA and AGS certified stones only. One of the stones you listed was graded by IGI, so the color/clarity may be less than what GIA or AGS would've graded them at.

Thank you! Great catch on the IGI...I forgot to include on my original post I'm intent on finding a GIA graded stone.

Buy the stone to bring it to thier NY office. Ask for the IS when it arrives. If the IS is good, proceed and have it mounted on the setting. If not good, get a full refund. They normally accomodate. Please ask.

This one is fine. Numbers are good and I'd personally have no problem ordering one with these numbers and a magnified image that looks good without an idealscope image. Definitely the only one of the 4 I would consider. You did say you didn't want warmer than I color and this is J, though.

Thanks for your response! Yes, I would really prefer an I diamond if I can find something in my budget with the right dimensions.

Thank you, I will consider purchasing the J, but would really like to find some other stones to compare it to. I really would like to find an I if possible.

I'm just going to throw a few out there:

http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8464940-1.38-carat-Round-diamond-I-color-SI2-clarity.aspx - ASET and numbers look good and fantastic spread but you'd have to ask if it's eye clean/at what distance and if the clouds are an issue.

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07211557 - the numbers are excellent on this one and the inclusions on the plot are off to the side; ask BN if they can obtain an image at least

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07229932 - numbers are also excellent, gets you I color and VS1 clarity but dimensions are a bit smaller; ask BN for image and if florescence is causing any milkiness/haziness

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.31-carat-i-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-1899129 - would not buy without an IS to check if there's any leakage from the 41 PA, but does compliment the 34 CA; also smaller

I don't think your budget is realistic for an I color stone in the size you want. These are the lowest price, well cut I SI1 stones I saw on JA, and both are right around 7mm which is going to be smaller than your current stone. You will either have to increase your budget or go with J color.

I kind of like this one that has already been posted, but it is also 7mm (it has strong blue fluorescence which probably explains the pricing):

Thank you diamond seeker and ac117! I will look into those diamonds and see if I can get some of those questions answered. So far, the 1.31 J is at the top of my list. I really appreciate your help!
