Hello fellow diamond lovers, I am faced with a very sweet dilemma and am hoping to get some thoughts from you.
Both diamonds are ideal cut with HCA score of 0.7 and GIA XXX
Details specs as follows:
1.84 DVVS1
Measurements: 7.9 - 7.93. x 4.81mm
Depth: 60.8
Table: 57
Crown angle: 34.5
Pavilion angle: 40.6
Faint florecence
2.04 GVVS2
Measurements: 8.27 - 8.33 x 4.97 mm
Depth: 59.9
Table: 56
Crown angle: 33.5
Pavilion angle: 40.8
No florecence
I feel extremely lucky that my boyfriend is happy to purchase whichever one I pick and he wants to find a really good diamond for me. He prefers the G for it’s size and he couldn’t tell the difference between E and G (smaller stones) in a store under diffused lighting when we were doing research.
The D is top quality however the G hits the magic two mark.
We want our engagement ring to be a forever ring so I don’t plan to upgrade in the future. My ring size is 4.
We live in Australia and don’t have access to an extensive selection so can’t find any middle grounds. The price difference is just under $3000.
From you experience is it worth to sacrifice color for carat? Will the G look ‘off white’ in certain lighting? I would hate to pay so much money and get an off white diamond. But I also can’t resist the magic number 2.
Which one should I choose as a forever ring?
