Please help - Cushion Cut on hold - need to decide ASAP!

Hi all,

Can you please give me your opinion on this diamond we saw this morning with Perry Chen? I think it might be the ONE but would love your thoughts! I had emailed Perry last week about looking at cushion diamonds in the 2 ct range that were slightly elongated and "chunky"and he had emailed me the video of this diamond telling me he really liked it and that he would also pull some others for us to look at. Well when we get to the appointment he didn't show us this one at first because Leon had decided that he was going to use it himself to build a piece. Anyways, he was able to talk to Leon while we were there and Leon said that we could still have it but need to decide by tomorrow otherwise it is going back into production.

Here are the stats:

Weight: 2.41 ct
Color: H
Clarity: VS1
Measurements: 8.72 x 7.59 x 4.81 mm
Table: 49%
Depth: 63.4%
Price: Hard to determine because we are going to go with Leon for the setting (halo) as well so received a quote for both combined, so I would estimate the cost of the stone alone as approximately $24-25K.
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Good
Flor: None

I have also included the diagrams. I like the "chunky" cushion cuts and this pattern looks different than those I have seen before for the "chunky" cushions. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before?

I don't know anything about cushions (and personally have never really liked them), but that is gorgeous. I would definitely buy that if I had the money. I've never seen that pavilion facet pattern before, but again, I don't know anything about cushions. I love the ovaly shape and the bright, chunky facets. Hopefully someone with experience will chime in soon. Good luck.

I know they pick really good cushions...looks great....would just make sure there is no bow tie. couldn"t tell from the video.

Well, like I said before, it looks great to me. Also, I've never heard of anyone being disappointed with a diamond sourced by LM or Perry. I have, however, read some threads regarding disappointment with their customer service practices.

The video looks wonderful. Without Aset or other images, you're trusting Leon and Perry's eye, which are great eyes to rely on.

Can't wait to see the whole product.

Looks like it has a bow-tie in that photo. And I was suspicious of the tilt on the video - you can't get a look at it head on. Make sure to check it in person and see if you're ok with the bow-tie before the return period elapses!

Thank you. I didn't notice anything in person but did speak with Perry about the stripe in the photo and he said that it is due to the large facets but won't all be dark at the same time. I also don't think the tilt is at an angle to hide anything since it looks like all his videos have the stone situated at a similar angle.
