Placing 5 stone band OVER delicate e-ring ?

You all have been amazing and taught me so much, so thanks, first of all ! My late education in diamonds allowed me to make what I think were some cool buys for my budget on e-bay. So, the custom ( her design not mine, but it was my dream design) is a .50 carat center princess, with 6 graduating stones, 3 per side.

Got the five stone which the guy wasn't sure of ANY of the stats, but had a good guarantee and sounded like he wanted to just recoup a bit of cash from a long ago purchase.Turns out to be .15 pointers instead of ten, H, SI1, (the e-ring is GIA F, SI1 cert.) and now looks too big for the lovely princess which after a few mental pouts that it was TOO delicate, became my dream ring.

I'm not going to change anything on the rings, no budget and I LIKE them both, but would it look...silly if I place the larger, blingier five stone above my e-ring instead of below, because somehow the dimensions and overall presence look better that way ?

Thanks in advance, I stalk this site late at night :)

pictures?

I probably wouldn't as the 5 stone if it sits over ering then it will knock against it and probably chip it. Just wear them seperately.

Trying to post pics, probably won't work, so sorry in advance... :(

Ha ha, nothing is going to chip, despite how photo's distort things, these are all small diamonds, none touch at all. I took one quick bathroom/cell phone pic of both and they still look awkward to me either way. I guess if I am lucky enough to have TWO diamond rings I want to wear them both, and my right hand is my working hand, so they both go on the left. Honest, the e-ring is so petite I've been asked if it was a promise ring : after being married two years, lol.

I say wear it the way you like it. People may question why you have it that way but all you need to say is that's the
way I like it.

Works for me!

Of course, you can do what you like, but since you asked for opinions, I think it looks MUCH better with the 5 stone band under the e-ring. Very pretty!

OK - here my thoughts.............. If you want to wear it over your ER, then buy a plain band the same width as the 5-stone to wear under it. Otherwise I think it looks better under. Remember what we are seeing is the 5-stone on top - from the viewer's vantage point. BUt, I echo what others say - wear what you love and that's that!!!

Beautiful band and ering!! If it were me, I'd put the 5 stone on the bottom and the ering on the top. Maybe its just the way I wear mine so that's why it seems 'normal'!

IT seems to be a more balanced visual presentation to have the weight of the band on the bottom --- but --- go w what makes you happiest!!

Thank you all so much for your input. You know how we all talk about finger coverage with 5 stone rings ? Well this one is just a tad "short" on either side, while the e-rings smaller stones DO cover the whole finger. Since fingers taper, It seemed to make sense in a building block/pyramid sort of way to put the 5 stone on top. Also, neither spin that way and BOTH spin the other way :?

Anyway, I had just received the 5 stone yesterday, so I was in full obsession mode, lol. Today I'm like "gee, guess I'll just change it up depending on my mood of the day". Thanks for playing on my thread :) In real life very few people want to discuss your diamond " issues".

BTW, we both took a BIG hit when the economy tanked so we got married with a simple sterling band for me, titanium for him. With our two yr anniversary approaching, I researched endlessly and stalked e-bay auctions and got the e-ring for $380 and the five stone for $300 on ebay, so it's an under $700 set ! I definitely say go with pre-owned if that doesn't bother you, instead of the cheap indian or chinese e-bay stores to find higher quality, but it's hope for those of us with very small budgets that we still can have some blingy rings too ! Now, I'm worried people are going to think we spent more than we could afford ! Can't win in the diamond world huh

I bow to your awesome ebay skills! You have put together a beautiful set for a great price! It certainly looks like it cost much more (which is a good thing, so don't worry about that! :cheeky: ) And FWIW I don't think your ering looks like a promise ring at all.

I usually go with wearing the wband below, but I have to say your pic of the wband on top looks very nice! I would just alternate until you figure out which way you prefer. But I agree with others that it's fine to wear it however you like.

I smiled when I read about your obsession with your new band - We can all relate so you are in good company here! I got a new setting last week, and it really is time for me to return to reality lol.
