Hello everybody..

Ive finally decided to join after lurking for months. Im at a stand still and now worrying myself over specs so I need some experienced insight. It seems my girlfriend wants a pear shaped diamond. Ive done alot of research and reading up on what to look for in a pear.. Im on a budget of 3300 or so for the diamond. After tons of searching Ive come to these 5 here. Im more concerened about eye appeal than whats on paper.. Id rather not go below H color, .80 ct, 1.55 l/w .. or 8.20mm in length. Ive tried to avoid bowtie as much as possible.. Take a moment of your time and take a look for me, give me your opinions, be honest, I want to know if these are decent and which is the best if so.. Thank you for your time.

Hi, Raider76! I feel you on the challenges of searching for fancy shapes (fwiw, I think buying ideal cut rounds is easier to do online than buying fancies). I spent months and months looking for an oval, only to spend another solid month searching through pears, and tried as best I could to decipher information on charts like this:

I'll allow more seasoned and knowledgeable posters to respond to the stones you listed, but you might consider looking for a vendor (popular ones here are Brian Gavin, Good Old Gold, Diamonds by Lauren, ID Jewelry, although others can chime in with more) who has a number of stones in house. Tell him/her what you're looking for, what your budget is, and let them look through their own stock to guide you toward a beautiful stone. It doesn't cost anything and lets a professional weigh in on your search. Most will provide you with additional evaluative tools - ASETS, videos or extra pictures of the stones, etc. that help you check out the stone if you aren't near one of their shops.

welcome to PS! Pears are a fairly difficult shape. i'm no pro but i'll give you my thoughts on the stones you've picked but hopefully bumping this post, someone else will come along and comment on these. for the record, BN videos leave a lot to be desired and it's difficult to get a true read on a fancy stone.

1 not a fan. i'm not seeing a lot of sparkle at the tip of the stone... just didn't catch my eye
2 Cant tell a lot from the video, does it have a bow tie? Not my favorite of the bunch.
3 I wish i could find a better video of this one, i can't tell much from the video but i think it has potential.
4 Facets are lighting up all over this stone. would probably be my first choice, i keep waffling between this and 5.
5 Probably my second choice.

A few i grabbed from JA that you might like
