Hello all -

I am searching for info on getting a wonderful diamond - so far I am encountering issues. This last time I was sent away with a pear with depth of 72.9% which seems to be a poor cut with research.

I found these 2 links:

http://www.qualitydiamonds.co.uk/Diamond/Pear.aspx

http://www.drostes.com/pear-depth.html

One is telling me to look for pear with depth between 63% and 68% and the other states ideal to excellent is
59.0%-63.0% . So, confused as to which is the better category. I want to bring diamond back and have changed with a diamond that will give me brillance and a barely noticeable bow tie effect. PLEASE HELP!!

THANKS

I would use this chart as a guide as it was written by a renowned expert and as such we know the source, but don't get too hung up on the numbers otherwise you could miss out on some diamonds you might really like. http://diamonds.pricescope.com/fnc3.asp

Depth and table alone won't tell you much, that is why you need to be able to see the diamonds in person, or to work with a vendor who can supply detailed photos and ASET images.

You can also see which shape and length to width ratio you prefer by using this very useful shape selector.

As to a minimal bow tie effect, you need to consult your vendor and explain this is important to you, so they can advise accordingly if you can't see the diamonds in person.
