Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions!

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

I love this look but I wouldn't add diamonds on the band, I'd stop at the baguettes. Sometimes I love it and then I think it's too much. If I was buying a big honker 4 carat I wouldn't halo and I would just to simple baguettes. Perhaps I should cad this up too! Hehe

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

I hear you on the 4 ct stone with side baguettes! I'd love that, too! I have been looking at ECs around the same size as yours and I agree that I'd want a halo. I would not do baguettes on the shank if you do a halo with rounds, though. I just don't think that works very well. I am glad you are increasing the shank to 2mm. I look forward to seeing your ring!

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

I just found this - thoughts? Looks gorgeous and vintage -

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

I like this one! First, I love an ec halo that accentuates the cut cornered shape of an EC. I also think the details in this setting are unique but classy.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Hi bigdiamond!! Yes it's stunning!!!! It's a little too elaborate for me but the whole thing is just so pretty!! Thanks for sharing!

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

CADS ARE HERE. Now the first one shows 1/2 pointers and the second shows 1.5 pointers. Im unsure whether the angle of the halo has been done..... I personally feel 1.5 pointers are too big and I love both the 1 pointers and the half pointers.....

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Hi! It does appear that they have not added the angle.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Thanks! I see they've lowered the stone a bit and will ask re tilt.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Lauren, I disagree, I can see the tilt in the halo, especially when you compare it to the first CAD? It looks great! Anyway, can you possibly post a side by side pic? I keep going back and forth between pics and it's a little tough. I agree, the slightest change in halo size makes all the difference. I like the half, or 1 pointers for your ring... the smaller stones add a big punch!

Eta- what size melee do you have in your current halo? Just curious?

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Ah I do see a very slight tilt in comparison- I guess it depends what you would like it to be. I would look at finished rings and see which ones you like.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Hi! I agree after looking closer, thanks Tru! It's very slight and I did ask for 25deg as per others on here. My current halo has one pointers but with the awful airline in-between allows me to have better fiber coverage which I don't want to miss out on....

I've attached the original CAD and the newest one with the half pointers. Xx

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Ok, yes, I would still look at other rings and make sure you don't want a more noticeable tilt? it gives it a more vintage feel imho for some reason (when I look at my own and some other faves on PS). I understand on the coverage, that was a factor in my newest ring. What are the dimensions of your current e ring?

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

oh and they also didn't adjust your shank thickness, you wanted that increased as well, yes? I am a big believer in having the CAD exactly right because I had a recent experience where a trusted vendor told me not to worry too much about the CAD and I should've insisted and in the end, I was upset for not being more assertive. Hope I am not annoying you lol.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Art you have been soooo helpful and I look forward to coming back here every day (well every hour haha) and seeing what you've commented on! I reminded them about the shank width and I just don't know how to guage halo tilt properly as there aren't many here I can few in person. I have to go by this site mostly. My current ring is about 11x11

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Awe you are so sweet! I think maybe you need to pick your fave halos and we need to evaluate the tilt to see what yours should be :-)

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

The photo you posted above definitely has a very obvious tilt - even from top view. Is this the look you would like?

Here is another-

Mine is also very tilted (I can send you a cad pic or side view if you want). So I think maybe you can send your jeweler a couple of pics?

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Do you know what angle yours is? I love the tilt on ascher girls and I don't know what Victer does on his emilyas but I want to be conscious of not loosing finger coverage because the halo is too angled..... I'd adore seeing your cad or if you remember the angle you used? I love your ring!!!

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Hi! Thank you, let me post the CAD for you. If mine is too extreme, you can always go somewhere in between. So Let's figure out exactly what you want so it can be just right! Ooops I realized it has a logo, so I had to delete. let me look for a photo of the side view.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Fankies Amelia halo is a 25% tilt.

That shank is too thin

I like the smaller melee, makes the corners look tighter.

The pics of the rings you like are bright set with metal ribbons around the melee. Great for square stones it really emphasizes the shape. Are you certain you don't want that type of pave?

I agree; 1.65 mm is a recipe for trouble.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

It's going to be 2mm plus!! I've expressed this and they haven't executed it yet :)

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Lauren, forgive me for hijacking your thread, but Artdeco, your ring is absolutely stunning!!! Ok, back to Lauren's journey... lol!!

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

LOL thanks!!! My trials and tribulations were plenty (eek!) before my dreamy ring finally was achieved, which is why I want to be as helpful as possible during L's journey.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Lauren- Niel is such a cad expert and I definitely think you should make sure on the type of pave because that can definitely give a ring such a different look...I know for me, I can't tell from a cad, I need a rendering. I didn't even realize about which type was in your cad vs your inspiration pics but it can make a very big difference in how the finished product looks.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

I think ultimately I'm wanting to recreate a Harry Winston style ring. The above with bezel and side baguettes is gorgeous too but for an engagement ring I'm going to HW style. Even Tiffany soleste single halo for the emerald.

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

Ahhh I see.... Im sure it will be lovely :)

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

But I remain so torn!! This is what catches my eye:

Re: Paper Ring and CAD - would love opinions and suggestions

I have a squarer Colombian emerald that I feel is too similar to the other one above which is why I want to stick with HW style. I want it to feel different.
