Smart or trampy?
I'v never worn boots higher than knee length but lately I have been intrigued by the OTK boots and ordered a pair online just to try and see what I thought. They came tonight and I modeled them for my dh who likes them but I am still unsure. So I thought I could get some opinions from PSers who have great aesthetic sense no matter the subject. Jewelry, fashion, politics, you name it. :read:
Thanks for your opinions.

Those particular ones are gorgeous. Not at all skanky or tramptastic and I am incredibly jealous.

Wear them with confidence!

OK those didn't show up so clearly but keep in mind I would only ever wear them with black tights or leggings so nothing too obvious anyway. Let me take some more pics to attempt to show them more clearly. I am going to take a back view so you can better see how high they come up as well as sitting with them. I am just not sure about the look...

Oh thank you Gypsy! You have amazing taste so your opinion means a lot to me. I really appreciate your input.

HI:

They are elegant and look very well on you. I am fond of riding (style) boots--and the OTK height suits the design well.

cheers--Sharon

I think they look fantastic, and so do you!! :appl:

Those are perfectly fine. I think it's when you start getting into mid-thigh that there's no redemption unless you're a model.

Thanks Sharon. I love riding boots as well and they make up the majority of my collection but I never went to OTK territory. My highest boot now is probably 16-17 inches high. These are 21.5 inches high so I just wasn't sure about the look. Might take some getting used to but I feel better after getting some valued opinions here.

Thanks sonnyjane. I wouldn't even know how to wear mid thigh high boots LOL. I mean, can one even sit in those? I wouldn't need a thread on PS to make my mind up about boots that high haha. Maybe for Halloween. :cheeky:

I was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to get them off. I thought it might be somewhat difficult given their length but easy peasy. They have a short partial zipper around the ankle so that helps.

They are perfect! I have the shirley over the knee riding boots from Frye. They can be worn over the knee or folded down. I LOVE them.

I bet they look gorgeous on you soxfan. I wish I had an easier time of finding boots that fit. My calves are slender compared to the norm (12.5 inches circumference) so I have a problem finding boots that fit just right. I usually order from Duo.com to get a custom fit. I was drooling over the Stuart Weitzman collection of boots because he has some narrow calf OTK boots but right now they are out of the price range I am willing to spend on OTK boots that I am not sure I will be wearing very much.

Those look terrific on you and you look terrific wearing them! :appl:

It's hard to totally see the black against black ... (I recently had the same issue sending pictures to my sisters of my black knee high boots) ... but from what I can see they look great & great on you.

However, I kinda think it should be love @ first sight. If you're questioning it & can't really picture wearing them or feeling totally comfortable in them ... I'd probably return.

Maybe sleep on it?

I dunno...this style always reminds me of Pretty Woman. She rocked them though :sun:.

Great advice Deco. That is exactly what I will do. I just don't want to look cheap or sad in them yanno? I do trust my dh but he's a man so on this issue I can only trust him so far haha.
I had some difficulty getting the boots to show up hence all the pics. Thanks for weighing in.

We'll see...the good thing is they weren't expensive so I guess I could just keep them for certain occasions like going out with my dh. I don't think I would ever be able to have the courage to wear them to work though I do work in an easy environment to do so. And OMG it would be tame compared to what some of my coworkers wear LOL.

MIne are 14" and I swim in many boots. I like my boots to hug my legs, not huge like rain boots! I love those boots on you. Keep them!! I have a pic of the Shirleys- they look very similar to yours…I'm OBSESSED with boots. I have 7 pairs!

Ooh, they look gorgeous on you soxfan! Love them! I like boots to hug my legs too. Much more sophisticated look that way. Thanks for the advice...I am leaning towards keeping them. :naughty:

Those are gorgeous! Not at all trampy!

Those are SEXY. No getting around that

I don't think they look trampy at all on you! Especially as the rest of you is attired very conservatively in that pic. I vote keep 'em and rock 'em ::)

they are great looking and they look fab on you.
however, when I think of over the knee boots I can't help but think they send a kinky S&M signal.
sorry.
at least they aren't high spikey heels!
and I'm thinking you can pull it off w/o sending those signals :naughty:
they are a classy and classic design so why not go for it!? :appl:

I like them on you!

I've seen boots like that where I've been left with the feeling that the woman is a tramp. I think that is less the boots and more the patterned stockings (the diamond sort of pattern on sheer background) paired with SUPER mini-skirt and lots of cleavage. Often with a see through top. Oh... and the heavy makeup :knockout:

I've also seen boots like those worn with cute dresses and other things. They can really make an outfit something cute and special. I don't look at the boots and think "tramp", I look at the whole person and think what great style they have!

The pictures you posted fall in that second category -- very cute!

Smart, keep.

Former fashionista here. OTK are very difficult to find for my height (nearly 6 feet with very long calves) so have never tried them. They look just right on you. Definitely on trend.

They are sexy. That's the question, do you want to be sexy?

Because they are. No matter what you wear them with, they will be sexy, and if you're comfortable with them, great. Rock it. :D

I am not comfortable with sexy things for myself, and would send them back asap. But I am very conservative, and I don't even show any kind of cleavage or skirt above the knee. I also never wear bikinis. I don't want people to pay any attention to me.

But when you wear those out, I know guys will look at you, no question. Nothing skanky about it, they're just sexy. :naughty: If the attention is good, then rock on, but if it's uncomfortable for you, then back they go.

Just giving you a very honest assessment of my (meaningless) opinion. :sun:

I think they are really nice!!

However, you seem a little unsure so I vote to return them and find a pair that you love at first sight!

I always hated this type of boots...and yet, i totally love them on you... And i will explain why:
1. Because the person who's wearing them is tall, thin, young and beautiful.

2. Because the boots are very tall, but the heel is thick and short, so it doesn't look over the top. The Julia Roberts' OTK boots had those sky high thin heels that looked...well, not very appropriate!

You should definitely keep them. They look amazing on you ;))

They're only just over the knee, they have a flat heel and you're wearing them with black tights, so I don't think they look too much at all. I think they look very nice on you.

HOT in a very classy way 8) I love them!

They looks AWESOME on you!!! I say keep them.. they are very versitile when worn the right way!!

Almost anything can look trampy if worn the wrong way...
If you wear it with fishnet stockings and a short skirt/dress... viola.. trampy...
But you have more common sense than that :)

I'd totally wear them with anything but long skirts. They look great on you. The length is just right.

+1. I am incredibly jealous that you look fantastic in those boots. Not trampy looking at all!

Smart. Not trampy. Here's some pics as examples of women wearing OTK boots. What do you think of these women's outfits while wearing OTK boots?

There's only three that I would say look kinda trampy, and two of them are high fashion models on the runway. The other...well...she looks really trashy. Guess which ones are which!
