I've been a long time lurker and secret admirer of everyone's bling but I never posted. I was so ecstatic about my new oval, I just had to share with the community!! I've always loved diamonds of all colors and sizes and I was always worried someone was going to judge me for wanting something big and blingy but now Im at a point where i'm just going to embrace what i love and shamelessly show it off. Lol.

I love my old oval. Crushed ice lemonadey N color, 2.03ct and super fiery in a simple solitaire.
Here is old oval:

New one is big chunky facets, 4.01 ct, M color, strong blue fluorescence, elongated and cut a little on the shallow side but never the less I am absolutely thrilled and in love!

Anyone else have ovals with big facets? I am facinated by it. I don't really know if these facets are a good or bad thing on my stone. I was worried about the cut on paper but I figured i'd let my eyes decide when i see the stone. After seeing it, I loved the big facets. They almost look like glass windows.

I hope it did this correctly and i hope this is not too long or too many pictures. Sorry if the pics come out too big or weird. Its my first time posting. I just got too excited. Lol

Your first oval almost looks pink to me!!! I really like the chunky facets of the 4ct! What a huge upgrade!

Please post more
Pics! Would love to see it on your finger!

Love love love the new 4ct Oval!!! Those facets are beautiful! I can see why you fell in love with it!!
Go big or go home, right?!? :lol-2:

It’s simply stunning!! That’s quite an upgrade!
I have an antique oval with chunky facets and I just love her! Maybe by GIA standards, she’s not a well cut oval, but who cares? Ovals can’t necessarily be judged by the numbers, especially old ones.

Definitely dont quite have my photography skills down yet. She (haven't thought of a name yet) is hard to capture. It doesn't help that I have a black and blue diamond tattoo on my ring finger (my permanent wedding ring lol.) It makes the stone look dark when it sits on top of it.20190420_125114.jpg 20190420_124858.jpg 20190420_124823.jpg 20190420_085804.jpg

Oh my gosh!! Your antique oval is amazing!!!:kiss2: love that look!

Ooh, nice upgrade!

Is unusual to see chunky-faceted ovals, thank you for posting lots of pictures :))

Love chunky cut ovals...I call yours a "moval" ...a super elongated oval thus a cross between a marquis and oval. They are SO RARE!
Where did you find your stone? It is so lovely!

Please share the specs on your stone and more pics! Congrats on your huge upgrade!

Wow, awesome upgrade!!! It's beautiful! I also think it may be an old cut, which I'd really prefer! May have once been a marquise recut into an oval, but I can't quite tell if the table is cut in an oval or marquise shape.

Thank you! When I first was looking for stones, I thought i wanted either a fatter oval or a warmer cushion. I was on the pricescope database when I stumbled on this and i thought the dimensions/cut seemed wonky. I asked for pictures and a video. The picture threw me off because i had never seen one like this before and i thought it looked glass/crystal vase like. However, the video captivated me so i ordered it to take a look.

Heres specs:
4.01 ct/M color/VS1/strong blue fluoro
13.89x8.39x4.77
Polish: VG
Symmetry: VG
Girdle: slightly thick to extremely thick
Depth: 56.9%
Table: 64%

My ring size is 6.5 and the side stones are a G/H. Stuller setting.

I ended up liking it more than my splintery firey (are these even words?? Lol) oval. Still trying different lighting for pics. Definitely very white in the sun and golden indoors. Sorry about the dry wrinkly man hands.

You and Ariel144 bring up a good point! I never actually thought of that. I wonder if it was indeed a marquise shape or different and then recut. How facinating!! I didnt even think to ask the appraiser for his opinion. Definitely makes me want to dig around and understand it more. I literally thought it was a wonky oval. Figured im probably the only weird gal to like it. :lol-2:

If anyone has examples, i would love to see more! This is so interesting!
