Oval Halo suggestions

So I've purchased the oval D/.75/SI1 from James Allen. It has arrived in the mail and looks good. Now I'm moving on to setting and I'm open to suggestions. I have a budget in the 2500-2800 range and I'm looking for a platinum halo. I want something delicate and unique.

I look at a halo as a frame around a piece of art, it helps to make the diamond stick out but it is just a narrow border. I'm concerned that with a 75 point diamond the frame will be out of proportion compared to the size of the diamond. How thin can a halo be made to properly frame a smaller diamond ? Will it be difficult/possible to set proportionally smaller melee diamonds in the halo ?

I've considered Love Affair diamonds Gabbie Halo. While they've said they can create an oval gabbie I'm concerned it won't look right as an oval. I keep looking at the pictures but I can't see it in my mind as an oval.

Also considering ERD Halo in platinum

I'm open to suggestions and I know CVB and David Klass have been mentioned, just difficult to find pictures of delicate halo's they've made.

So please post pictures or links or suggestions! Milgrain, knife edge, tapered shanks, engraved shanks, melee shanks, filgree, we like them all!

I like the ERD halo.

+1, I have worked with Chris at ERD for my wife's halo and she is very happy. Others have done so also on the forum. Of course there is SK and VC who also do fantastic work. I think the consensus is that ERD is a little lower in price than the other 2. Best of luck.

Here are a couple others I found that I'd consider for the oval.

Any thoughts on the diamond halo proportion I mentioned when we get into the under a carat territory ? If my stone is 4 times smaller than the stone linked below, could the halo be made 4 times thinner ? Can it be made to scale or is it going to have to be proportionally larger due to limitations of metal and melee ?

Is this for you, or for someone else?

It will be an engagement ring for my gf. I'm a little OCD on details/specifics.

This is my erd halo

Did she send you any pictures? Does she want rose gold? And if she did give you pictures, please post them here so we can see them and help you.

I personally would go with the most classic setting for someone else. And to me that's this one: https://www.pricescope.com/blog/jewel-week-jaw-dropping-5-carat-august-vintage-cushion-diamond-ring Or the ERD setting.

I think the Gabbie Halo is risky. It's a love it or hate it look. And I know people who feel both ways about it. I wouldn't go for this one unless she specifically said she likes it.

If she likes the Legacy or Tacori style, AND rose gold, then this is a good option: https://www.pricescope.com/blog/jewel-week-engagement-ring-romance-rose-gold-and-platinum But if she doesn't like those, then I wouldn't go for this one.

This is lovely: https://www.pricescope.com/blog/jewel-week-delicate-details-fancy-light-yellow-diamond-ring But obviously you wouldn't put a D color stone in a yellow gold cup.

Gypsy - We have visited some brick and mortar stores so that I could get an idea of what she likes. Regardless of which design I go with, it will be in platinum so disregard the rose/yellow gold(though I find them lovely and preferable) when I show a setting. I personally like the more classic setting as I think it's a look that will always be in favor, I find them to look more delicate and less busy. The ERD milgrain halo is probably closest to what she has shown a preference for, I'm just concerned with the thickness of the halo surrounding a 75 point stone.

It doesn't have to have all of the following but should have some of them.

In a platinum halo
She likes
sits medium to low on the finger
dainty/delicate
melee shank
milgrain
tapered shank or tapered cathedral(?)
Claw prong
engraved shank

She doesn't like
Bezel settings
High mountings
Split shank
thick shanks
artsy or modern look (vintage and classic are fine)

Ultimately she has given me her blessing to find what I think would look best. This will be the ring for life so I want it to be as near to perfect as possible, we will not be upgrading stone or setting at a later point.

I did get a price quote on http://www.stevenkirsch.com/engagement/halo/r0118.html which has a beautiful underside but it is out of my max 2800 price range.

Jerseygirl - That is beautiful! I find myself liking almost everything I've seen from ERD. Thank you for sharing that great example of ERD work!

Ok. I'm thinking the Tacori style ring then, will be a nice choice. And it's the safest setting as the pave style is bright cut.

So I would probably go with that.
