Hi all,

I was hoping to ask your opinion on an oval diamond suggested to me.

1.01 carat
Colour F
Clarity VVS2
Symmetry Excellent
Polish Excellent
Fluorescence None

Measurements 8.36 x 5.73 x 3.07mm
Table 65%
Depth 53.6%
No cutlet

No bowtie evident on photo and video.

I guess my concern regarding this diamond is that it is relatively shallow with a wider table. I wonder whether this is compromising its brilliance. The depth and table of this diamond would place it in the 'average cut' according to the AGA diamond grading chart.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Ovals do get brighter (www), but so many do not, that I cannot fault this one.

Does the vendor have a good return policy? I think you probably need to see the stone in person and see if you like how it performs.

I am absolutely not an expert, but that depth percentage is concerning...... is it a typo perhaps?

Do you have a link to the GIA report, and/or a video?

I'd need to purchase the stone and if it is not what I want once I see it in person, they offer 100% refund.

I also did a double take when I saw the proportions. Most definitely not a typo. A video can be seen here - https://v360.in/diamondview.aspx?cid=VM&d=397724

I am actually fascinated by this diamond! If it were me, with the knowledge that I could refund it simply because I didn't like it, I would buy it to inspect its performance with an ASET scope and in different lighting situations.

I am pretty tired and my eyes may by failing me at the moment but I can't detect a bow tie. If you like please scroll down to the section on "bow ties", it links it with shallow cut ovals:

Honestly it looks pretty but a bit flat. It is up to you if you want to give it a trial period or not. Clarity and colour are great though. Can the vendor take an ASET and send it to you perhaps prior to purchase?

Sorry I realise I haven't been helpful!

Thank you for your input! I've decided to continue my search for now and found a "better" proportioned stone that I will compare the flatter stone to pending photos and videos.
