All the numbers look good! Do you have a magnified image of the stone? I'd ask for one, if possible.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm going to see this diamond over the weekend and i'll ask for images. They have a hearts on fire proportion scope to show their diamonds, is this enough to look at with good proportions and HCA?

Well, a hearts and arrows viewer will show if the stone is symmetrically cut and that kind of thing, but it does not show light return like an ASET image. Better than nothing, though! Your numbers are in the safe range, though, so use your eyes, check the clarity with a loupe, check it in different lighting. It is probably going to be fine!

Just came back from the tacori dealer and viewed the diamond in person. The diamond is eye clean and also has incredible fire. The dealer also showed me 2 other diamonds GIAs that she can bring in to show me:

1.46Carat / H / VS2
HCA 1.2

1.45Carat / H / VS2
HCA 1.6

1.39Carat / G / VS2 (original diamond)
HCA 1.5

Here is the original diamond in a YouTube video showing the hearts and arrows viewer ( I was unable to focus on the diamond alone using my iPhone)

https://youtu.be/FyHo1iyKOfY

All the diamonds are priced very closely at $11.5k USD (taxes included). How's the price and should I ask to see the other diamonds?

Definitely especially ask to see this one!

It has a better diameter than the other H and the G. Great numbers. I like the numbers better than the G. The diamond is so close to 1.5 cts in diameter and weight.

Let me check pricing and I'll be back.

Ohhhh, as luck would have it, I found the diamond linked in this post listed on Blue Nile for $9954 credit card or $9804 wire.

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD07293170?click_id=802098262

I think you'll have to click ctrl and the link to make the page open. Scroll down for the diamond description. It says the diamond is not available which means a jeweler has called in the stone, maybe it is yours.

There's no way I'd pay $11.5k for it. Maybe $10.5 but that's it.

I think the 1.46 carat may have sold because she was having a hard time finding it on the system after she provided me the GIA info :wall: My dealer will inquire tomorrow and hopefully its still there.

Do you think I should take the 1.45 Carat instead of the 1.39Carat?
Can you help me find something better around the same price range? (under $11.5k USD - all in)

My dealer mentioned she can bring in most online diamonds with the GIA#. They can match and beat the online prices but it hard to bring multiple items in to view because I'm in Canada (duty charges).

Thanks for all your help.

The H stones just under 1.5 cts are a good buy as long as they will sell them for close to the Blue Nile prices ( $10k USD). I like the 1.45 H and if it would cost less than the G, I'd probably go for it. There's a mental advantage to 1.45 over 1.39, too, so if the images turn out well, yes, I'd take the 1.45 H.

Is this going into a Tacori setting?

Yes, its going to be for a Platinum Petite Crescent setting http://www.tacori.com/ht2545rd75. Hopefully I can find the perfect diamond for the setting as I'm looking to propose next month.

That is a very pretty setting! (The price is a killer, though, unless they do a discount.) Are they ordering the setting to be made for the diamond you choose as well as in her ring size?

I have been casually ring "browsing" with my g/f over the past few years and she always goes back to the same ring from Tacori. She also likes the Verragio style because its similar to Tacori but the Petite Crescent has always been the benchmark. I was originally thinking of saving money on the setting to focus more on the centre stone but I'm playing it safe. The discount is likely to be minimal as I haven't finalized a price but I'm looking to at least save the tax. Once I have the diamond selected it takes 3-4 weeks to complete the Tacori setting.

Well, if that is the setting she loves, you are wise to go ahead and get it! I do recommend it in platinum, if possible.

The 1.46 was sold over the weekend but I was able to hold the 1.45. I received an image of the diamond from bluenile and I have attached it below.

I was able to bring the price down to $9.9k USD with my local dealer (slightly better than bluenile) thanks to your find online

Should I pull the trigger or keep searching?

That is so awesome that they beat the BN price!!!! :appl: Yay!

They need to learn to do a head on shot, because we can't tell a thing from that picture, unfortunately. I have high hopes for it just from the report, but you really can't be 100% sure until you see it and your jeweler does the hearts and arrows images. I realize it is too costly to call in multiple stones, but I do feel that this one is worth calling in. It should be a good one!
