Hello all!

After very unfortunate experiences at multiple Tiffany's (was actually scoffed at when I said that the diamonds did not have the antique look I want. Never going back.), we are sourcing our cushion cut through a diamond expert that is also a family friend. Currently, I am having to choose between a 3 carat, IF, G and a 2.4, VVS1, D diamond. They are similar in price, and I honestly don't know what to do! I am worried about the color? I can't see anything, but I just wish it was an F!! Any thoughts? Both very well cut and set.

Gypsy suggested Victor Canera for your stone and ring in your first thread. Have you checked out his website?

No one here will suggest buying from a family friend. Never a good idea.

Help from the experts here can help you look at other sources if you don't like Victor's choices in the sizes you are considering. Good Old Gold also does modern cut antique cushions. If you are looking for an authentic antique diamond I recommend Jewels by Grace.

This cushion is fabulous. You can still ask Victor for a quote for your setting.

Your expert cannot access any F stones? FYI a G will likely be plenty white. You are not limited to only a 3 ct or a 2.4ct. What if you dropped the clarity to vvs2 or even VS1? Opening up your criteria will expand your choices.

And with cushions, go by dimensions, not by weight. Experts here can look at images to help you evaluate cut and light performance. Cushions are not a "by-the-numbers" kind of shape.

To clarify, our family friend started out by cutting diamonds, then sourced diamonds for Tiffany's, and now works at Lugano Diamonds in California.
