I need to finalize my diamond purchase soon, and am trying to get to a 1.50ct princess cut that's eye clean and looks white, and that's well-cut of course, with a budget of $8,000-9,000. I realize I'm asking a lot for that price, but there were several stones at JA I saw that looked to be good options, so I've been working with them this. I received the following ASET images last night, and am trying to evaluate them. Honestly, I was hoping for more red/orange like I see on the stones from WF and the Solasferas at GOG, but I may not get to a 1.25ct for my budget with either of those vendors and I'm not sure how to translate the images that have red, blue, green, and black/white vs. the images I received that don't have any blue. All three of these diamonds are eye-clean and are large enough, but none are AGS certified, so I'm hoping I can get some advice based on the ASET images. (Red/orange is direct light, green is indirect light, and black is light loss.)

Diamond 2: Depth 74.80, Table 72.00 (this one is a J-color and their gemologist says it faces up with a slight warmth, so I'm not as keen on it

Diamond 3: Depth 74.40, Table 66.00

Also, I realize I don't have angles or some of the other metrics such as crown angle, depth, etc. Are there any other questions I should ask?

Thank you in advance!

That one's great, but it's beyond my budget unfortunately. The ones above are from $7,800-$8,600 (with credit card fees), which puts me just over $9K with a simple setting.

Thanks for those suggestions. I'd be interested in an opinion on the ASETs above as well though. (I assume you prefer the ones you linked to the ones above from JA.) I feel like the ones JA sent me don't have enough red, but they just don't like look the ASETs I've seen before without blue.

The J color is definitely a little warmer than the I. The I seems to have the best ASET but at only 6.10 mm wide there might be larger options for the same price (or cheaper options for the same size.)

I'm really fine with anything that's 1.50ct. The 1.78 I stumbled upon and had to request an ASET based on the price. JA says it looks warm in a platinum setting, so I'm not leaning towards it. To clarify, it's not that I'm 100% set on getting the stone from JA, but they have offered great service and have great prices on the setting I want (a simple knife edge). I really liked the fact that the representative I'm working with recommended the I between the three, since it was the least expensive of the bunch. I was just a bit underwhelmed with the ASETs and don't understand why there's no blue in them like every other image I see.

I'd be more concerned that there is not enough red. So I would have to eliminate all of those.

^^^ THIS. I would have to agree with diamondseeker. That is a large amount of green in all of those ASET images. Do you have to get a 1.50 or larger diamond. We bought a smaller but gorgeous ACA from WF. Their generous upgrade policy allowed us to get an upgrade less than a year later. I'm sure that your fiancé would love the ring even if it's less than 1.50. It's the cut quality that counts. Also upgrading is fun and it's less pressure on you financially for the initial purchase in my opinion.

All poor choices.
