Opinions on a diamond necklace design

Hi all,

So I have a 10k budget for a necklace (it's a wedding gift), I've been trying to come up with designs for a few weeks, I'd like to get your opinions on it.

I'd like it to be wearable in every day life, so a minimalist modern design, ~16", and not a solitaire (is too simple for my taste). I've been thinking of getting a three diamond bar made, with 0.7ct stones, or a 5 stone with 0.5ct ones. Something like these (I'm not stealing the design, I looked for a long time to find these pictures online after I thought of the design on my own):

Three stone:

Five stone:

What do you guys think? Any cons you can think of, in terms of practicality, etc? I'm pretty new to jewelry so would appreciate your input. Also if you have other ideas I'd love to hear.

Also, in case you know, how much should I expect my jeweler to charge for the chain/setting in white gold?

Thanks a lot!

It's a matter of personal taste but I'm not a fan of how 3 similarly sized diamonds look in a row like that. I have a graduated 3 stone design which I'm very fond of and looks very elegant. Mine is from bluenile but would recommend the WF one:

If you like the straight line look jewelsbygrace has an amazing design:

(she can make one custom with larger stones or modern cut diamonds to your liking)

Another condition I forgot to mention: I'd like to be able to layer this as the smallest layer, with 16"+ pendants. So it'd have to be 15.5" and not dangle down.

I was also considering the diamonds by the yard style, or maybe a DBY with the diamonds mostly in the front? So 5 0.5 ct stones, set 1" apart, for a total of 2.5cts. Does anyone have such a necklace?

I don't mind going full-custom, just a matter of finding the right style.

I love that victor carrera. I don't care for the three smaller stones. I prefer one beautiful stone.

@LLJsmom I like your ideas! My in-laws just got me the van cleef in turquoise, it's so lovely. I'd love to have the bracelet in black or mother of pearl too.

I've also been drooling over the cartier orchid, I was considering breaking up the 10k into two necklaces, a YG plain cartier orchid (I like that more) and a diamond solitaire like the WF martini one. My mom doesn't want me to break it up but I might be able to persuade her ...

I've been struggling with this necklace decision. The victor canera is beautiful too but but not what I'm looking for right now.

I will look more at designer necklaces, I haven't really been inspired by the simple diamond necklaces so far.
