Hi again!
After my last thread about "recycled" diamonds I reached out to Brian Gavin to inquire about which diamonds were trade-ins or buy-backs and I have been suggested a diamond that I had initially not asked about because it cost more than a comparable diamond for no real benefit imo.

What is everyone's opinion of this diamond? We are planning to set it in the classic half round 18k yellow gold setting, which I believe has platinum prongs.

I have also looked at Whiteflash but haven't reached out to them.

Edit: I would like to stay around 7500 for the stone and hopefully get to around 1.2 carats.

This one has all the flaw right in the center. I like to have one with clean center. It can be messy around it.
I don't know how the price is nowadays. I bought a 1.13/H/VS2 3EX from Blue Nile in 2015 for $6269.

The inclusion plot looks worse than the actual video.

I can only detect the pinpoints and crystal in the vid as the stone moves around, but they are white rather than black. The cloud in the plot is not visible to my eyes on the vid.

Unless you have eagle eyes, this is going to be easily eye clean from 10-12” viewing distances. Only with a loupe are most people going to be able to see the inclusions.

As per usual, another stunning stone from
BGD.

Do you think this stone is well priced? my feeling is that its too expensive but I am not sure I know enough to say that is true for a vendor like Brian Gavin.
The stone I originally liked was this one, which is the same visible size and same specs but is 200 less. The only issue is it was not a "used" stone, so I decided against it. Does a .018 increase in carat always result in a 200 increase in price? I suppose I don't want to pay for a larger stone if it doesn't look larger.

The 1.145 is “rounder” than the other one (only 0.02mm diff between diameter) so to me that’s an indication of potentially tighter cutting specs compared to the 1.164 (0.04mm difference in diameter). Need a full Sarine scab to confirm. But that is a very minor nitpick.

However, in the vid I definitely spotted a black crystal/pinpoint under the table without looking first at the lab report. There are also more black coloured inclusions just outside of the table compared with the 1.164. I suspect that is the reason why the price differential exists between these two stones.

At 10-12” viewing distances, both highly likely to be eye clean compared with the magnified video which reveals a lot more to the eye.

I would prefer the 1.164 due to the colour of the inclusions that my eye notices (white vs black).

Of the two you posted, I like the cut of 1.145 better, but as @bmfang pointed out, the crystal looks a bit more noticeable in the 1.14 compared to the 1.16.

I think you could get more for your money elsewhere though. Either larger or higher color. Here's a well cut 1.36 J/VVS2 for a little under $7K.

Couldn’t get the video for that stone on Yadav that @TreeScientist linked to to actually work for me on my iPhone browser. But towards, the actual diamond image face up is a stunner to my eyes.

Star in the centre is very well defined with very little gaps between each arrow shaft. The arrows look damn near perfect to me symmetry wise as well. Proportions are bang on the middle of what I would want in a GIA XXX stone. Nice find TreeScientist!!!
