I just bought an uncertified ring from a local store's estate section. Inside its a pretty champagne color and outside its very yellow, is this due to florescence?? I am going to send it to GIA but I am curious. I can return it but I kind of think it's cool.

Sold as 2.53 carat but I havent measured it yet

Here are some inside and outside pics... The outside pics look true color to me, the inside pics i am not sure if it's capturing the color correctly, because it really looks without any yellow very champagne inside.

Also, as far as "value" would this behavior make it more or less 'valuable', I want to make sure I didnt overpay too much (probably doesnt matter as I think i love it already! That said if you 'know' me i tend to keep things a few months and then sell it because i have jewelry impulse control issues... hahaha)

Inside (i swear its more champagne than yellow inside)

the back is completely open so i think the pics with the white background show the true color better

Cool ring!!!

The pics certainly look like fluorescence.
Impossible to really tell the color of a stone when it's in a bezel.
IN this case, ther seems to be enamel.....or something turning the metal black.
A cool look- but it does make grading impossible.
I hope I'm wrong but removing the diamond seems likely yo destroy the ring

I love it so much! Gorgeous yellow fluorescence like this (I’m assuming it is) seems rare.

Its beautiful! Can't speak to fluor but its pretty in all lighting. I think that would be what matters most for resale.

I think so!

Beautiful

Grab yourself a UV torch or two, the different types, if you don’t have them already.

Oh! good idea, off to amazon I go!

Thank you for weighing in! I read about 'chameleon' diamonds that due to fluorescence are 2 different colors and i figured thats what was happening here. Its a very cool effect!

Thank you! I mean, i am not looking necessarily for 'resale' per se... i just have impulse control issues and buy stuff and then realize it's not 'me' and then sell it... because i suck... LOL!!

I am going to reset it like @jaqjaqjaq 's marigold (with her permission of course!) and i think it will be pretty with my collet set bracelet

Yes I completely understand what you meant about value.

I love the current setting! It is probably original to the stone. Perhaps a refurbishment and not a reset? Or save and preserve the setting for the future in case you or another future owner want the original setting.

@Inked What a lovely ring-Looks like some fun Fluor at play!

My two cents would be to leave her in this setting and enjoy her, if original it would be more appealing for possible future resale.

If you do decide to sell her down the line please keep me in mind :)

So, this is fluorescence right??

I want to be first in line if or “WHEN” you resell this one, I LOVE the fluorescence.

i wonder if it's a Brazilian OMC with strong Green Fluor?
and i would keep it original / as is - it's perfect

Hopefully I’ll keep it… it’s super cool and unique so hopefully it keeps my interest

Odd stones and I mean odd in the nicest way are sometimes weird when it comes to price.
Mainly because one person may look at it and go: I'm not buying that for 1/2 that price. Where another person might be here is my CC I want it now!
They can also get weird grades from labs that does not represent what they actually look like in person.
I don't know if David @ DBL remembers but we had a very long discussion about it.
I love odd stones and if I had the income to support it would snag them all up just to admire them!
The stones is kewl!
Enjoy it and take it on a long trip in every lighting condition possible.

I love it… but most of all I love that you it so! It’s truly a special stone, I cannot wait to see what you do with her!

Put me on your list too. It's my kind of weird.

Gorgeous ring!
Very different from what I usually like, but the center diamond is cool and the whole ring has a strong personality ...please don't consider a resetting and keep as it is: if you're not 100% happy with it, then sell it but don't reset it... this ring has a soul!!!

Thank you for chiming in Karl!! I hope your headaches have been better, I think of you all the time and hope you're ok!

I am in the TAKE MY MONEY camp, it's just really cool! Now that I lived with it all day I can officially say I love it! It's just so fun how different it looks in the different light!

thank you for the advice on piles of "love" "like" and DREAM! Helps me see my collection more clearly

I have decided I love it, I was taking a pic of my necklace and the ring was in the shot and I was like "Holy cow this is the coolest looking thing!"

How I adore that ring! Please PLEASE PLEASE don't dismantle it! It's perfect in its original setting.

And the color effect is SO COOL!

I'm not usually given to envy, but I envy you this ring.

The construction is really interesting and well done. I think the design couldn’t be topped! Gentle rehab of the milgrain and bezels would be all that’s needed… if that!

I love the weird green yellow. I feel like we saw another old cut with this colouration before…

I’m excited for you regardless if you keep it in the original setting or choose to give her a new dress. You have such creative designs that are true reflection of you so I trust your vision. Good job on finding this treasure!!! :kiss2:

I’m in line too! Stunning piece: So glad you love it and have decided to keep it. Moar pics pleeeeze!

Yes, it’s beautiful. It will be the fluorescence. I have two rings with brownish diamonds which glow green under UV and I’m seeing that too in your gorgeous diamond.
