When I was quite young (1950s) I saw a color movie, a historical romance, I am sure, in which the most exciting scene was the hero, a Cornell Wilde type, getting ready to cleave a priceless diamond, held in a vise, as I recall. I think he had a hammer and a chisel. If he shattered the gem, he was going to get hell (maybe even be killed?) from some prince or captain of industry. He succeeded, of course....There were definitely costumes involved but I think I was too young to recognize the period. I have searched and searched the Internet and cannot find a trace of this film. Did anyone else see it?
