Is the size difference going to be noticeable between these average millimeter sizes in the 3ct range? I know well cut stones look bigger and brighter. Just talking about looking down at the stone...
Thanks!

Hi luvmysparklies --
I've been told that a good rule of thumb is that a .25 mm difference or so in diameter of a round dia is about where a visual difference becomes apparent to most people. When I was looking at approx 3 ct stones a little while ago, I found that to be true for my (older) eyes; at around .20-.25 mm, there was a visible size difference face-up with well-cut stones. But as always, people vary!
Thanks everyone for the responses.
Gemmyblond-I will keep that in mind!
JulieN - LOL!!!!
Chrono- I see what you are saying.
Before making the post, I did a PS search and saw posts from engineers/other posters with formulas involving pi, square root, percentage of the larger diamond and division to figure out surface area. That's why I was just trying to see if there was any perceptible difference considering all that since I don't know how to do all that stuff. Thanks so much for the responses!
Silvar surfer- you are more than likely right, I probably would not notice a difference, on a ruler. I don't think the rulers have these kinds of numbers on them like 9.3, but visualizing between those teensy lines, well it gets pretty impossible if not inaccurate. But I do thank you for the simplicity of a ruler suggestion, since pi and other formulas are beyond me!
Heididdl- I tend to agree with you in light of the other comments.
And finally, Ashleigh- many thanks for that link. It's like a "for dummies" version of all the mathematical stuff and there is a small size difference that I can see when I plug in all the numbers! Thank you guys! Just the kind of comparisons, using an easier tool, I was looking for!
I used a circle template to compare sizes when we were shopping for my e-ring. Then while I was waiting on my ring, I drew the correct size of circle on my finger. (I'm crazy like that)
The template really did help me visualize the size differences. Looking at mine, I'm not sure you'll be able to visually tell much difference at all between the three.
