Good morning fellow PSers. Yesterday my five loose G color, SI1 clarity, GIA certed .30-.31 pointers sprouted wings and flew off to Whiteflash to be mounted in their permanent platinum home. My five stone shared prong anniversary band will soon be a reality! It has been a real pleasure speaking with Bob Hoskins about design, and corresponding with Vera on technicalities. I think I''ll adopt Bob. He''s so much fun to talk to!
Here are my specs for anyone who didn''t follow my search while I was shopping for stones. Four are Ideal cuts, one is VG. All are pristinely eye clean and look identical when lined up together. (I should have taken some photos of them loose, but they all came from BN in those temporary ring holder-thingamabobs and I didn''t know exactly how to get them out without damaging them) All diameters average 4.35 mm, all tables are 57%. I plugged the numbers for the one that came with the full arsenal of measurements into the HCA calculator and it scored a 0.9 Since all five are virtually identical, I do believe I have five VERY high scorers here. I also plugged the individual numbers in GIA''s Facetware Cut Estimator and all scored as Excellent.
4.33 x 4.36 x 2.65
4.33 x 4.36 x 2.64
4.33 x 4.36 x 2.62
4.34 x 4.36 x 2.62
4.32 x 4.37 x 2.67
As soon as I receive my CADs and wax shots, I''ll post them. We''re making two changes to the usual shared prong design. My ring will have no prongs on the ends. Instead, the sides of the shank will meet the stone with smooth polished platinum to avoid pinching. If anyone remembers what Lynn''s first wedding set looked like? The sides of my ring will look like that. Also, I will have an airline allowing light to get into the side gallery, much like the Tiffany shared prong rings. As a final note, the prongs will remain more towards the outside of the ring instead of being pinched towards the center.
Thanks for coming along for the ride!
