HI, Need a new setting for my cushion cut sapphire. I have an channel set eternity ring with round diamonds interchanged with sapphire baguettes and need a new setting for my sapphire e-ring. Hubby wants there to be lots of light to show off the gorgeous cut. I made a mistake with my first choice, too bulky and just killed the light in the stone. My wedding band is very simple but not antique looking so I am not sure pave or the very slim bands are for me. I probably need a band to be about the same width as the wedding band. Anway. Open to suggestions, can any one help?

I''d do diamond half moon sides.....do you have a picture of your wedding band?

While I love mrss''s suggestion, I wonder from what you said, if you are thinking of a more "open" setting? Possibly a solitaire?

Will get the camera out and take a picture of both. I want a setting that will really show off the sapphire. Allow lots of light underneath so that it really sparkles.. Maybe a halo? How do they fit next to chunkier wedding bands?

Oh the decisions!!!

Help, I can''t get the picture small enough!!!

the sparkle comes from the cut of the stone and the reflected light from the top, not the light underneath. keep in mind that a cushion will not sparkle like and ideal cut round brillant. they are a different nature and usually have chucky facets which give off some fire, but will not perform like a big ol'' sparkly round. what color sapphire is your stone, a colored stone isn''t going to perform like a diamond either.

I have tried in vain to get the picture posted.

My stone is a 2.5 carat Ceylon sapphire. It was gorgeous outside of the setting and when they put it in the solitare it just seemed to dull down. I was looking for suggestions at putting some diamonds on the side/around it and wanted some help with setting suggestions bearing in mind my wedding band is 5 mm wide.

I think that i did it? Can anyone make some suggestions now please? I am desperate...

Wow, what a honker! What Mrs.S said is true, the color(s) you see come from light that goes into the crown of the stone and is reflected back out toward you. Does a professional cleaning help?

My only other suggestion is that a few ladies here (cehrabehra, decodelighted) have highly polished surfaces under their stones and claim that when the ring is very clean that these surface can enhance the fire/scintillation they see in their stones. As for the setting, I think a four-prong setting on a split shank would be lovely and would echo your wedding band nicely.

Maybe split shank plus halo? I adore halo's around colored stones. If you have a great color, the white diamonds really make it "pop". I would put a pave' halo around every colored stone out there if given the chance.

If it was done properly, I think it could still work with your wedding band.
