I went back to the jeweler once already because a stone fell out after 4 months and he replaced the stone and made a new setting. I’m
thinking that his work is just subpar. Please advise...
That style of setting is difficult to execute.
They way the diamonds are held is not the most secure and the girdles of all diamonds are very exposed.
It requires precision seating, that’s the cut out in the prong that holds the girdle (edge) of the diamond and looking at your photo, and as Jpie pointed out, the diamond is not being held securely. The prong finish, is also poor..
All in not a well made ring, obviously beyond the jewellers level of skill and expertise.
I think you would be better off getting a PS recommended vendor to remake your ring and discuss your setting preference ie might a half bezel setting be better than 2 prongs?
I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing that ring as I can see from just the 1 photo that a diamond isn’t secure and others might be likewise unstable in the setting. It might take onlyna modest and insignificant “bump” to shift a prong and the diamond to fall out.
