Is anyone going to this?

Any of the Trade members? :)

@foxinsox kindly posted a link to an article about the Shirley Temple Blue:

which included a reference to an article on the show:

and that article linked to the event website:

It looks like there's about 190 exhibitors, including GIA and AGL (which I assume is AGS??), so I am pondering on if I could make it! (It's only about 600 miles from the UK, which seems perfectly drivable, and Switzerland does have epic scenery... lol)

I can't see a way to actually buy tickets because it seems to want some sort of invitation code :| but it does say on the front page "Visitors get an invite or may get a ticket for 50.-".

Just thought I'd flag it up in case it was of interest! :))

Hmm... So driving is 600 miles of petrol and about 12 hours each way + at least £150ish of Eurotunnel fares.

Eurostar trains start at £120 + something like CHF70 get from Lille to Geneva, taking about 5-6 hours each way.

EasyJet goes from Gatwick to Geneva airport (just next to the venue) in 95 minutes each way, from £44 return.

Plus overnight accommodation if staying over.
Plus (expensive in Switzerland!) food and drink.
Plus costs to get to the airport or Kings Cross in the UK.

This is not working out to be cheap... lol

I guess EasyJet for a one-day flying visit (pun intended ;) ) could be do-able if it can be £44 + whatever it costs to bribe someone to take me to the airport at the crack of dawn and pick me up near-midnight... lol

It sounds like it’d be fun, though I appreciate the time and costs to travel to/from. I hope you can make it work out to attend.

Just a note, AGL and AGS are not the same; AGL is a reputable colored stones lab.

Ah, I stand corrected!

I think I'm getting confused because I've seen AGS called AGSL on here sometimes

I'm based in Geneva. I went last year. I am going this year. I have nothing to compare it to but I was in heaven! I went twice. Just remember your passport because they don't accept anything else for identification. I saw several people with govt issued drivers licenses get turned away.

Ok, I went, I saw, I drooled, I bought one small blue and 1 magenta cushion sapphire. There were a lot of great informative talks by experts. As was the case last year, it seems I was one of the few non-trade visitors. To anyone who plans on going next year, May 7-10, it is right next to the airport,( a 5/10 minute walk) and you could conceivably fly in and out the same day.

Cool! :)

I've put it in the diary for next year and hopefully I will be in the position to go!

I've never been to trade show other than the HKTDC one. Personally I went to show not as an exhibitor, but as a seller looking for opportunity, roaming here and there. I felt the show was very crowded and and found numerous people like me. How is Geneva show in general? If its worth, I may want to mark this show next year!
